The Official "Ask A Brotha" Thread - Part 2

There's way too much conjecture and heated anger going on both sides to get a clear view on the truth.

I understand the need to protest, people are upset about the outcome. However that looting, robbing and acting like a damn FOOL does a disservice to the reason for the protest!
I understand the need but the real power is GREEN POWER! Stop putting money back into the hands of people who dont care about you and get out and VOTE people in who really give a damn(why do you think all these voting registration policies are starting to appea )You will start to see a real change is about to come!
just mt 2 cents. i had to use the rest for bus fare

Voting? That's for white people.

:o

I think that the looters are just there to be there while the protesters probably don't want them around anyway. Sure there is more than likely a mix between the two, but a lot of rioters just come out of the woodwork to act like damn fools regardless of what happens. I'd bet that the protesters want them gone just as much as everyone else.

I know there are people there that are genuinely angry but a lot of the younger ones are just *****s tryna' get free stuff and cause damage. I won't even front like that's not the case.

If they really cared, they'd have attacked the Police Station or the Court House. They knew what they wanted. They wanted to get five bags of Funions and those beats by dre knock offs from the Walgreens.

which lends itself to another problem( isnt ther always!) if Bill Cosby would stop spiking white girls drinks and ^&* or Ray J would stop making sex tapes ( I heard that tape is making dough!) and invest in some workshop or ^&* maybe this would work! sometimes you do have to be your brother's keeper especially when he is making millions of dollars and decide to run a bad news dog fightning kennel( say what?!? Mike Vck!) or when he's looting a damn Little Ceasar's( that ^&* is nasty anyway! i wouldnt take it if they gave it away!):cwink:

Does the name Black Panther sound racist enough for an overblown media ruckus?

The only people who'll overblow it are those looking for more ratings and/or hits.

I can see it now. Once the trailer is released, people will be like "That's racist!"

I saw it last night, thing was hilarity. It starts off slow, but it speeds up like halfway through. The cameos were classic.

I've always thought that was obvious.

Every year Hollywood takes some bland white dude with little acting talent that no one has heard of and tries to make that guy a star but they rarely ever do that with any minority actor.

Idris Elba should be a leading man in big studio pictures by now like Denzel. Elba has been in some high profile films and television shows. Elba has a following. Elba has played leads in some low budget indie films that have been number 1 at the U.S box office (No Good Deed/Obsessed). Why aren't the major studios offering him the lead role in a franchise instead of guys like Jai Courtney or Armie Hammer?

I'm willing to bet Elba has a bigger following than Courtney and Hammer combined. Most films Hammer has been the lead have either bombed or made little profit (Mirror Mirror & Lone Ranger).

Chris Rock probably shouldn't of mention The Purge because the sequel starred British actress Carmen Ejogo who is half Nigerian and half Scottish although she was playing a Hispanic American woman in the movie.

I say bring up Dukes of Hazard.

Did people successfully petition to change the name and symbol of the General Lee (a direct reference to an offensive historical symbol).

If not, ****.

Any backlash based on the BP name will be out of ignorance since the political party's name isn't based on the Marvel version and vice versa.

But if they want go ahead and protest. It will just be free publicity.

Leopards with black fur are called black panthers. "Black panther" is literally the name of the animal that the superhero dresses up as. Neither Marvel nor the Black Panther Party own that name. People are freaking ridiculous.

Lets not pretend conservatives and white supremacist were going to line up for a movie about an isolationist African country with a leader who dresses up like a black panther and fights greedy invaders regardless of the title.

It could be called "The African Ben Carson" and they would still avoid it like the plague.

I just read that Chris Rock article, and unsurprisingly he's on point with a lot of things. He's always been one of the most intelligent comedians because he's perceptive. He does a great job of showing how minorities are getting the short end of the stick while acknowledging that there is a progress that's happening. He even criticizes how some black directors act like people with money are evil, so he's looking at all sides of the argument.

It boggles my mind that I plan on paying to see a Chris "I usually make s@#%y movies" Rock movie...

Chris Rock directed films aren't so bad.

They seem to get better and better.

He started with Head Of State (which was bad), moved on to I Think I Love My Wife (which was decent) and his latest is Top 5 (which is good).

Hollywood has given Idris some strong roles like Nelson Mandela and the guy from Pacific Rim but he doesn't pull in much of an audience. Nothing like Denzel.

Who knows why someone like Taylor Kitsch was given so many opportunities but I doubt it was simply because he was white.
