Sorry if this has been discussed before, but is anyone else the only the black person in their group of friends?

I've never seen Roots....and I don't want to see it either. I love The Color Purple, but I can only watch it completely once a year. It's too sad.

When I was younger I was the only black person in my circle of friends. Likely this was because I went to a "white" school; though in reality, it was really a Mexican and Filipino school since it was Catholic and in Los Angeles.

I've seen the first ten minutes or so and maybe one or two important scenes.

After John Boyega's young Mike Tyson HBO pilot didn't get picked up I thought he might be another one of those talented young black actors who was going to be out of work for years or only getting small parts in stuff. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be the case with him as he was cast in the next season of 24 and is playing Jesse Owens in a biopic.

Nope. I've always had some black friends in my social circle.

Does it matter to you that your the only black person in your group of friends?

This question has kept me up at nights.

Why must we be attractive to bigger thicker white gals? Is it all that butter?

I like a woman with curves and I think that is a thing common amongst black men but I'm not sure the majority of black men are particularly attracted to overweight women (not that there is anything wrong with being attracted to larger women).

I don't think most men of any race are that attracted to the skinny runway models you see on high fashion runways either.

Yeah, we like women with the right amount of curviness; if that makes any sense.

It's just that sometimes, in my opinion at least, it becomes intriguing when those curves are seen on women other than black and hispanic.

White girls can be very curvy in all the right places but ironically go on diets when they are. Their ideal mates are white and white boys swear up and down they don't like any cushion. I think these guys are denying their true nature to further separate themselves from black guys.

They just can't admit to themselves that black guys are right when it comes to ideal, female body types or that black women have any physical advantages over white women.

I'll vouch for your assumption. My dearest friend and I have a routine back and forth over what qualifies as "nice." Some of the examples he cites make me laugh out loud because I view his choices as having a particular dearth of posterior. He is only looking at lift, not the depth of the curve. Conversely, choices I deem to be callipygian are choices he considers the mark of being rotund. Every once in a blue moon, we can agree on a choice.

As far as the Real World.

I'm sure there's been some interracial banging on the Real World at some point in those 20 plus years of there being such a thing. If not there then certainly in Road Rules.

I haven't watch RW in years; but when I use to, the black guy (in the first episode) always had a thing for one of the girls but the girl would always end up choosing one of the white guys while the brotha ended up being the girl's "cool buddy".

To the point where he'd say "**** it" and go outside the house to hook up. The only time I've seen the black guy hook up with a housemate was the first Vegas season and the girl was black, well half-black.

Black folks and The Rea World don't mix. I recall an episode in which a dude opened up a car door while someone was pylling off and he slapped the laws of physics out of her mouth. Audience reaction at the time...no bueno.
