Other than the Green Goblin I most want to see Mysterio in this series of films.

Mysterio is #1 on my list of villains I want to see in this series. Electro being #2 and Scorpion being #3.

Those 3 are probably some of the best we haven't seen yet on screen. Although I don't think we'll get Scorpion unless they completely overhaul his backstory and exclude the best part about it with Jameson since Jameson probably won't be in this series according to Webb.

He said in some magazine, might've been Empire, that this stuff is taking place before he starts working for the Bugle when he was asked about Jameson. Don't have a direct link to a scan, though.

He was talking about this movie only.

Really want to see Green Goblin again, but as it goes for unseen villains, my top 3:

1. Mysterio
2. Electro
3. Shocker(I've always loved the **** out of this character)

Honorable mention: Scorpion

Exactly, Raimi used all the top guns in his trilogy so it's either go with lower tier villains or redo villains again.

And you ever think of using some originality? Like, screenplay writers using their brains to make B or C list villains TOP TIER villains.

You can make any villain a great villain as long as you create a great backstory and character development. So, what I'm saying is, forget the comic book origins, make changes for the better.

Faithfulness isn't always gold. I've been a Spidey fan my entire life and my morals say

**** the original back stories of certain characters, if better stories could be told. AKA DOC OCK SPIDEY 2.

About the Feb 9th thing, Sony Pictures' Twitter follows the guy who supplied that info. So the date is more than likely legit, in case you were still doubting.

Gotta bring JK Simmons back!

Not necessarily. He was great but that doesn't mean someone else won't be able to play the role with an equal amount of passion and execution. Besides, this is a completely different universe and needs fresh faces.

i said before we even knew the villain for this movie that it should be mysterio. i think mysterio would be awesome to see in a movie. people complain too much cgi is used, well with mysterio his whole gimmic is pretty much live cgi to his victims.

that being said and the direction they are taking this movie (ie: the sewers and peter using his webs to locate lizard) i think the scorpion would be an awesome villain, given that the scorpion is the spiders main predator (opens doors for intense, well thought out action scenes). but now its too late. i think scorpion would be too similar to the lizard. so mysterio wins my vote. or norman/gg but i think that should be saved for movie 3 with the death of gwen. that or bring in i dunno a mob story - kingpin/hammerhead/chameleon and have chameleon be the only one to get away at the end or somethin haha

JJJ is the same type of role that you could relate to, say, Alfred in the first 4 Batman movies, or M in the Bond movies. They were different universes, in a way, but those actors have nailed those parts down. He's not a major player, and won't be involved in the movie as much, but it'd be great to see him again.

The first 4 Batman films were in the same universe, except for the fact that the lead actor was different.

I'd want someone else to give JJJ a shot. I hate this narrow-minded thinking of "____ nailed this role, no one else can come close to playing him, therefore you shouldn't even give anyone else a chance!"

Bryan Cranston could easily pull off Jameson

You know what would be great if they do Green Goblin and Doc Ock again? If they put them into the same movie! That would surely be mindblowing and would not feel rehashed. They could have Doc Ock be the ultimate version this time, that would make things very interesting (a scientist at OsCorp and secretly a corporate spy for Norman Osborn's business rival, Justin Hammer.)

If they do indeed have a contract that Spidey could be a part of the Marvel movie universe, then it would be awesome to have Justin Hammer in this series. If not, I'm sure that some other character would fit the business rival part nicely

Just for the heck of it, I'm gonna have my own trailer countdown in this thread

15 days till the trailer!

I love those as well.

Mysterio fits damn well in a movie that's more grounded and "gritty". He has great potential and could handle a movie on his own IMO. I think he would be perfect for ASM2.

Electro can hold a movie on his own as well I think. He's a very interesting character if you ask me and his powers are just great for epic battles and to be Spidey's ultimate challenge. I imagine that Electro would evolve in the movie in a very interesting way, gradually realising the potential of his powers, which would lead to the ultimate battle in the end.

While Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Kraven, Lizard etc. are higher "tiers" than Shocker, my love for him has always been stronger for some reason. He's just a damn cool villain and I really love his persona and character. I would freak out of joy if he turns out to be a villain in a sequel. However, unfortunately that's VERY unlikely. I could see him best used in the first movie of a trilogy/franchise. Maybe some time in the future.

Though, we are really spoiled when it comes to great villains with lots of big screen potential. We also have Kraven, Chameleon, Scorpion, Vulture etc. etc. (not including those used by Raimi)

I'd still love for the sequel to feature a gang war taking cues from The Spectacular Spider-Man with Osborn creating supervillains for the mob. That way you could have smaller villains like Rhino and Shocker in it and it would set it up perfectly for the third film, as Spider-Man by bringing down the mob will have ruined one of Osborn's main sources of income, meaning he has to rush forward testing on his performance enhancer...

IMO Sony needs to take a note from The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon in order to see how this reboot film series should go.

I absolutely love the idea of a Mysterio movie. My first exposure to him was in the old SM videogame for PS1 and I've wanted to see him adapted to film since.
