The Official Avengers Thread (Heroic Age Bendis/JRJR) - Part 1

I'm sick of all these f***ing reboots. Just tell a good god damn story and move on to the next. Building everything around these stupid little financial tricks makes me hope for another industry collapse, so maybe they finally learn their lesson.

One of the main aspects of comic books are collecting them. Who wants to bother collecting them when they never make it past the triple digits anymore???

You mean double digits.

I don't think there's any comic yet that has surpassed the triple digits yet.

Much like your Spider-Man thing?

Hypocrisy. :o

When I criticize Spider-Man it's for specific things I can point out in the issues in question. I'm not criticizing Spider-Man's deal with the devil in the newest issue of Spider-Island because it's not there (I'm assuming) so no, it's nothing alike. I do believe that the title took a nose dive after OMD with some highlights here and there but that's just my own opinion and I don't rag on it every time the term "Spider-Man" or "Peter Parker" or "Quesada" comes up. If it fits in with the conversation then sure, I'll mention my views of Spider-Man up to the point where I left off reading... but that's as far as it goes. Bendis haters will criticize just for the sake of criticizing like it makes them cool or something. They're not a part of the superherohype "in" crowd unless they throw out cliched Bendis criticisms at every mention of his name, the Avengers, the Ultimate line, a dog farting, an old woman groaning, or a nerd masterbating.

I think it's safe to say the anti-Bendis groaners are the definition of comicbook "fanboys" that get the eye rolls from pretty much everyone else not in their circle of whiners.

Preview of Avengers #18

Looks like another talking-heads issue. Let me know if anyone other than the people on next issue's cover turn out to be on the team, and whether Hawkeye gives a reason for changing into that terrible new not-costume.

I'm tired of people re-using classic cover concepts. Especially when the comic is ****** and in no way deserving of connection the that cover. I think it's moved past the point of paying homage to legendary creators and into the realm of too lazy to come of with their own cover concepts.

I've been enjoying New Avengers (began with #16) but in #17 when they just attack Ultimo while Stark tells them not to just made them seem childish, still it's nice to see Norman as top dog and it seems he's going to have an army of manufactured healing regenerating Hulk monsters alongside others, so yeah bring on Dark Avengers 2.0 :)

Daken may or may not return to Dark Avengers, or we have a new "Dark Wolverine" based off New Avengers #20 cover but yeah Skaar is a Dark Avenger.

I dropped all comics after the butchering of Kang in Avengers; Are there any quality trades I should hunt down?

Daredevil has a strict no killing rule? I thought he lost that somewhere along the way...

Daredevil has killed in the past, I think he killed the people who killed his father. And he killed Bullseye a little while ago (who was then resurrected). But those situations are usually under extremem duress, he doesn't kill people in general.

His father's killer died due to a heart attack and the Bullseye murder was due to the Beast's influence.

Storm is joining the Avengers. ****, I'm so sick of X-Men in the Avengers :argh:

Avengers Assemble is a new ongoing (and lol thus Bendis writes 3 Avengers ongoings) that focuses on the characters seen on the movie. Mark Bagley will pencil it.

1. Why is this an ongoing?

2. Why is this not in the regular Avengers book?

3. Why is this an ongoing?

4. That roster is absurdly boring. It's awesome seeing Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Hawkeye in an Avengers roster, but characters like Spider-Man, the Vision, Ms. Marvel, Thor, Hank Pym, Wonder Man, Quicksilver, and others really flesh it out.

6. Why isn't Hawkeye in his normal costume?

7. If this focuses on characters from the movie, where the goddamn, everloving f*** is Thor? :cmad:

So just set it after he comes back. The hell is the matter with these people?

in all seriousness, though, I could see them keeping him away until his second movie comes out. They've gone that long without Thor before. I think they're gonna try to make people like the new guy with the noodle stick as much as they liked Bucky. which, ya know, will never happen. But I think they'll try.

But even if Thor is "dead" he's still in the Mighty Thor. That's a sure sign that he won't be back for a while :p
