The Official Avengers Thread (Heroic Age Bendis/JRJR) - Part 1

9. Why are they letting Bendis write another Avengers book when his other 2 aren't even good?

I noticed in the article that there would be "several other unrevealed characters" in the book as well. So, we could very well be in for an awesome Avengers line-up (including the Hulk, and this is 616, right?)... But, it's still written by Bendis.

maybe we'll see a return of classic Vision (even though I do like the YA Vision). There's no reason not to have 2 of them.

Well, I always felt that YA Vision should just change his form back to Iron Lad. :o

well, apparently Iron Lad is making a return in Children's Crusade, but I'm trade waiting for that. I just like the Vision. he's a bad ass that has a bad ass design. So I'll take as much Vision as I can get.

in all seriousness, though, I could see them keeping him away until his second movie comes out. They've gone that long without Thor before. I think they're gonna try to make people like the new guy with the noodle stick as much as they liked Bucky. which, ya know, will never happen. But I think they'll try.
Marvel's obviously interested in synergy between the movies and the comics, so Thor's gonna be back by the time Avengers hits theaters.

Seeing the Hulk on an Avengers team again makes me kind of ill. There's a reason the guy couldn't last more than one issue as an Avenger for the past 40 years. :o

well the whole point of this new ongoing is to sync up with the movie. and he's not there. They've only got about 7 months to get him back in the roster to line up with the release of the movie. which doesn't really seem like a whole lot of time, since he just "died" last month.

There's room on that cover for other characters and the article mentions that other characters will be on the Avengers Assemble team. I'm fairly certain Thor will be one of those other characters and they just didn't want to take the impact out of whatever Fraction's doing by confirming that Thor will be back in the land of the living and on the Avengers again come next summer.

Hell, Fraction's The Mighty Thor features Thor on the cover of its December issue and talks about the realm where gods go to die. Thor dies at the end of Fear Itself this month, which gives us a good six months for Fraction to make an arc out of his return in time for the movie.

See, the thing with this new ongoing is that now with Avengers Assemble, this book'll make Avengers and New Avengers obsolete. Thats the thing about the market nowadays, it's all about what's the "important" book. As soon as this new Avengers book hit, the other two are gonna drop steeply in sales because they're no longer the primary Avengers books. It's like what DC did with Batman. When Grant Morrison was writing Batman, that was "THE" batman book....then it was Batman and Robin....then Batman Inc.. I really wish the industry would show restraint and not flood the market with all these needless spinoffs and variations of the same titles.

But if everybodies buying one, then the others are just gravy.

Avengers Assemble is a new ongoing (and lol thus Bendis writes 3 Avengers ongoings) that focuses on the characters seen on the movie. Mark Bagley will pencil it.
You know they didn't do a good job of editing a character out of a picture when the outline of his weapon of choice is still plain as day

(Look at the right, where there should be dark blue lines but aren't)

STORM Joins The Avengers!

Marvel have announced that Storm is set to join the Avengers early next year, as part of Steve Rogers' recruitment drive which may see characters like Monica Rambeau, Vision, Ghost Rider, Falcon and Hercules sign up. While the actual first Storm issue has yet to be confirmed-----

UPDATE: Her first appearance will be in January's issue #21.

Oh yeah i can see Mjölnir there.

Man, I like seeing the X-Men branching out for once. Storm on Avengers. Wolverine on both Avengers. Beast and Captain Britain on Secret Avengers. Fantastic

And I was just saying a week or two ago that I wish Bagley would do a book that I buy. I've not bought a book that he's drawn since he left Amazing Spider-Man at the end of the Clone Saga and I LOVED his art. So yeah, I'm all over this.

Hulk back on an Avengers team in the 616 universe for the first time in ages....gonna have to buy this:woot:

Or you guys who want Bruce Banner, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America could just read Jonathan Hickman's title?

My god damn it was to Storm. I followed her to that hasty marriage to Black Panther, I kind of follow her everywhere. I could give a rats ass about the movie line up as I think it sucks.
