I love that moment. Say what you will.

It's excellent. That hanging guy probably never knew what hit him.

I also love how Gordon and other policemen could barely see this black bat figure walking away.

Returns wasn't better. It was too quirky. This movie felt like a Batman comic book of the period. Returns was a weird amalgam of all of Burton's previous movies, with Batman in it. Good movie, but not as "classic" if you will as this one!

Yea, I kinda admire it for what it is though ;)
Quirkiness can come in all sorts and varieties, and this particular one happens to be irresistable.

Not sure if I can call 89 a "classic" - sure, objectively it probably is, but there was annoying stuff in it that kinda ruined the overall impression for me.
Batman being unnecessarily creepy / *****ey in a few scenes, Kim Basinger is too much of a "damsel" overall. The movie feels a bit "indecisive" at times in regards to its plot and tone, but obviously tons of great stuff in it nonetheless.

There is nothing wrong with Batman being creepy. Are we forgetting his name is BAT-man? Is hiding in the shadows, taking advantage of his appearance to scare thugs and being more mysterious to the masses now a bad thing?

I don't have anything against Batman/Bruce Wayne being a bit *****ey. Unless he is expected to be like Superman with a bat suit and no superpowers.

It depends on what interpretation of Batsey you like best. I know some people who only appreciate the Adam West version (they are generally over 50 year old though).

Yep. I think Returns sucks. I think Burton got too much control and it hurt the movie. You guys can like Returns, but I really don't enjoy and I think in terms of enjoyment.

It's still a better made movie than Schumachers, though the campiness of Schumacher's movies make it at least an enjoyable comedic watch.

Both Returns and Robin feel like the more self-confident, decisive follow-ups of their somewhat mumbling predecessors to me.
Forever tried to balance camp with "serious" drama, and, well - Robin only had a few scenes of that, the rest just unapologetically crazy ****.

Returns has quite a different vibe from Batman, but still it's completely committed to what it is, a dark, surreal and naughty Burton tale about lost souls in a city or whatever; 89, eh, kinda does this and then that, throws me off every time. Still cool though :)

(And yes, this is all subjective obviously)

There should be a way of automatically ignoring members until they have been around for six months.

To what end? They'll still be saying the same infallible **** then as they are now - see above post for evidence :oldrazz:

I have this guy on ignore, but I can only assume that four posts in a row = spam.

Man, just when I thought it couldn't get any lower on the hype.

The "rape" talk will stop now.

And when it comes to that, I'll be able to make them references all the more - so let them come! For now though, one person is quite enough, thanks ;)

Now careful now. If you're allowed to make references to it, then so am I ;)

Oh yes. Bewaaaare, bewaaaare, for the whole SHH seems to be dying to make references to that. :woot:

He just got infracted for it....so please....you guys make another reference just to see what happens.

I always thought it was supposed to be "I am the night" like the line used by Conroy in TAS. Did the guy who create that photo get it wrong?

Yeah, it was "night." I got it was the original line because that's what Batman said in the comic adaptation.
