The Official Batman (1989) Thread - Part 5

I saw it last night (Erie PA Cinemark) and I agree with you but the one thing I hate is the one shot of Joker looking up towards his henchmen in the chopper and his suit turns red from purple. I really wish they could fix that if they can make superman's suit look the same shade of blue throughout the film (instead of the turquoise suit they used for the blue screen shots) they can fix that darn red suit.

Some things I NEVER noticed since seeing in in 89
it was raining in the alley in the scene between Eckhardt and Jack
the cartoon of the "have you seen this man" was signed Bob Kane
you can see a guy driving the driverless batmobile
the batcave had a LOT of detail I never saw in some shots wow.

I just caught from a recent viewing that some guy throws something at the Joker cars as they leave the museum. Also realized Joker quotes "The Raven" in Vicki's apartment.

I also noticed that one of the purple cars that Joker's goons drive in is a late 70s/early 80s Malibu which was my first car when in HS but mine was a coupe.

Sadly I have to give up my beloved collection of original Batman slides from 1989.

There are 559 slides of Batman 1989 and 114 slides of Batman Returns with film scenes, candid and behind-the-scenes shots with Tim Burton directing, make-up and special effects department props including multiple views the Batman suit as well as the Batmobile, The Joker, storyboards, concept art and more.

If you want them - please email me directly : [email protected]

That's a true collectors item. Don't settle on anything less than what you feel it's worth, and that should be quite a bit.

Damn, I wish I could watch this film at a movie theater again! Would be very special to me as it's not just my overall favorite Batman film but because this was my first exposure to Batman and it's what got me hooked on him at 4yo.

B'89 introduced me to Batman and instantly fell in love with him and then started reading the comics after BR came out and right before the animated series started .

My local Alamo Drafthouse is now doing a Batman 89 movie party screening next month with props and all. I guess I'll be seeing it twice within a month and I certainly won't be complaining.

Man, I wish a theater near me would show Batman 89.

I've been patiently waiting for a theater re-release since the 25th Anniversary and I honestly thought it would never happen. I am very thankful I am finally getting these opportunities even if it is 2+ years later.

I'll have to check my Alamo Drafthouse to see if they are playing it soon

I can understand Vale not knowing who Bruce Wayne is, but how the HELL does Knox not know who he is lol.

That's b/c this interpretation portrayed Bruce Wayne as more of a recluse, which is different from most versions (comics, cartoons, movies, etc.) of the famous billionaire playboy.

Recluse or not Wayne was supposed to be present at the Dent campaign event in the beginning of the film which would show that he does go out at public events that have television coverage from time to time. Its something that bothers me a touch as an adult but never did as a kid.

Well he obviously didn't appear at the Dent campaign b/c he had more pressing matters such as actually attempting to rid the city of crime as Batman. Rather than listening to countless empty speeches about how Dent and the police force plan on ridding the Gotham of crime and corruption.

He was expected to be there and that's obviously because he was a main benefactor for the Dent campaign, at least from behind the scenes, away from the big, social events. An invite was offered to him and he must've agreed to go for them to set up his place, but obviously with no intention to show up for several reasons.

Look at Returns in the costume party, or even B89 at the charity ball, he's so out of place, he doesn't quite know how to behave. He only accepted Shreck's invitation, after initial rejection, just because he wanted to see Selina... and look awkwardly people responded to him at the party because he had no mask on or anything.

I wouldn't say he's a total recluse. What I've come to notice is that he simply goes about places and does things that matter to him. The man follows his heart, his passion... he skipped the Dent event because he wanted to be Batman, and he followed both love interests around in two separate movies. Bruce is a lonely, damaged soul looking for love and companionship in both films - quite literally.

I've seen saying this for a long time. We need to start a petition or something, because it makes perfect sense. Whether or not they could actually get Keaton to lend his voice- there's a whole generation of people that "Burton's Batman 3" would have a TON of nostalgic value for even if it was animated and Burton/Keaton weren't involved.

Eventually they're going to run out of iconic comics to adapt, I feel like this has to be a conversation at some point at least.

Well, this is promising:

Gary Miereanu (Via Twitter): ''Very astute observation. Watch carefully today...''

God that would be amazing. Burton Batman, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman, a Flash movie with John Wesley Shipp reprising the role, Donner's Superman (though something like that might be weird to do, considering his Superman is dead irl), a return trip to the DCAU?

I wanna pull myself out of thinking about this before I get my hopes up, though.

Well, if a retired Sean Connery, at 100, was coaxed out of his coffin for FRWL the game, then anything is possible :o

It is the 25th anniversary of B:TAS next year. A proper return to that style would be wonderful.
