Batman '89 The Official Batman (1989) Thread - Part 6

With the Batman ‘89 comic series coming and Michael Keaton’s return in the upcoming Flash movie, it’s a great time to be a Burton/Keaton Batman fan

Can’t wait to see what other merch is in the works. For one, I hope Hot Toys re-releases the Keaton Batman figure

I *really* hope Hot Toys re-releases either one of the Keaton Batman figures (but especially Returns). Bales Batman has had a dozen HT figures at this point, so they better rerelease them.

That would be neat, or a new version of it...no, lets go with the Original.

I think there's a few in England they could drive down to Leavesden

Forgot to mention I finally got to see this in a theater last weekend. 1450F97E-2449-4C2F-9E3D-F9B2A8AB622F.jpeg Batman Return was my first theatrical experience at 3 years old... and luckily snagged ‘66 on an anniversary a few years back. Along with seeing MOTP originally and during the anniversary showing, 8 viewings of BB, over 30 of TDK (1 at the Navy Pier IMAX), and so forth... this was always my last hold out, sadly.

Through the years Returns has been my favorite Burton, but damn... seeing this larger than my 55” let alone all of the years on a giant box back projector tv, it was just as magical as it was on VHS in 1990 or so.

That’s awesome man!

There’s a local theater that is known to play all types of older films, especially when celebrating an anniversary. Back in 2019 I was hoping they’d do one for the 30th anniversary of Batman but sadly they didn’t

Funny enough, it was AMC that actually held a screening of Batman but the one located at Universal Citywalk in Hollywood. Unfortunately it was one day only, two hours away from me, and I was at a concert that day

Am I the only one who kind of wishes a different artist was tackling this B89 comic?

The remastered version of this on Blu-ray and various streaming services is pretty incredible. Apparently the Blu-ray from 2009 was not scanned from the original camera negative, but they finally did it for the 2019 version. Amazing upgrade in terms of clarity, detail, color, and contrast.

I think it looks better now than it did when I saw it in theaters in 1989. I hope to be able to see the remastered version in a theater at some point, but who knows when it might happen.

Agreed about the remaster, but sometimes I like to watch it on my old 1998 fuzzy DVD anyway. This movie really suits SD and grain.

Batman '89 has a great dusty (best way I can describe it) quality to the cinematography.

They did show all 4 movies at the theater in their remastered quality for like a week when the bluray came out.

Yeah, I missed it. Haven't paid close attention to movie theater stuff the last few years. I stumbled on the remastered version of B89 with HBO Max. I was sitting there watching it and could not help but notice everything looked a hell of a lot better than the old Blu-ray that I watched many times.

Has anyone ever heard of they initially wrote/filmed a scene of Jack attacking/poisoning Alicia?
