Maybe Tony Daniel should redo this one as well, cause the face is horrible. Sometimes Daniel's art is just bad.

The coloured version of the previous cover is fantastic, although i never like it when they draw the cape like Spawn's. It makes the page a mess and its not like Batman's cape actually looks like that.

Looks great. I love the cover with The Penguin. It's great to see Cobblepot being a major player in this storyline. Penguin's always been one of my favorites.

Man nice to see the HC collecting the 2 Riddler issues! I really recommend people getting it this fall if you're not into single issue stories. I've found it really enjoyable, i know i know it's really too early to say when the 2 last conclusion issues could be godawfully ******, but so far Tony Daniel really has proven himself as a writer.

Dick is doing some questionings to civillian street kids who have answers, but then someone gets a clear head shot on the kid and the kid goes to hospital. Dick goes **** angry and promises himself to give the kid a perfect foster home and get him to the best schools and whatnot, to give him a great second chance at life. Then Huntress gives him the sad news and the kid died. SO DICK CHANNELS HIS INNER **** YEAH BRUCE-BATMAN AND BECOMES AWESOME.

The Cult kinda came to mind as I read this issue, with a mind-controlled Dick apparently now being kinda somewhat responsible for a couple of deaths* and the city (well, a section anyway) under the villain's control, the National Guard, etc.


*My eyes weren't playing tricks with me, right? Dick -did- more or less cause the one cop to accidentally shoot the other, then punched another into the barrel fire, yeah?

It's amusing how many fell for the Hush red-herring lol.

It's amusing how many fell for the Hush red-herring lol.

Its one thing to give random clues, and its a whole different matter to almost portray Black Mask exactly like someone and then give clues that he is someone else. This is Loeb's type of crap.

"On the one hand i'll show that our mysterious villain is the riddler. He has question marks on his underwear, likes riddles and hats. Then i'll make it look like its Hush. I'll have him quote Aristotle and use the word "hush". Then i'll make the reader think its Jason Todd, because under the tuxedo, he wears a Robin tunic out of ****ing nowhere. Then i'll make it look like its Darkseid because he wears red sunglasses and has an omega on his T-shirt. Yeah i'm a clever writer!"

You know what i mean. Its a stupid way to confuse the audience. Clever writers leave subtle clues that the reader might pick up. They dont go out of their way to paint the killer like someone, then someone else, etc so that they confuse the audience.

And the rubber bullet thing was really stupid. Daniel drew a box around Dick's hand holding it to slap the clue in our face. And btw, why would Black Mask use rubber bullets on Batman? He could use them when he is [BLACKOUT]Dr Arkham[/BLACKOUT], but as BM he's killed hundreds, why would he spare Batman?

Why we're the rubber bullets stupid? Jeremiah is a schizzo who carries equipment both the Black Mask and Jeremiah use, are you trying to tell us when the Black Mask persona hits on he changes the bullets? Infact we even see Jeremiah argue with his Black Mask persona.

Nothing here is bad writing except you just can't agree with it, so you come and whine about things you dislike and try to sound edgy with "ooh bad writing!" arguments.

I'm trying to keep up with the current storyline in Tpb form...I've got: Batman & son and Batman the black glove. What's my next step from here?

I've heard good from some Riddler arc, but personally i've avoided it so i can't comment, also i did forget to add the GN for Battle for the Cowl includes 2 extra issues which are about Vicki Vale uncovering the disappearance and reappaeance of Batman.

I just said that Arkham might use rubber bullets to pretend like he'd never kill and protect his identity, but using rubber bullets as Black Mask would get him killed.
And yes i consider Loeb's antics as bad writing. He went out of his way to make BM look like Hush (Aristotle, use of word "hush") and then he drew a box around the bullet to hit us on the face with the clue. I've never seen such "unsubtlety" before.
Take a chill pill.
