The Official Batman Comic Thread

I'm not sure I'll like this format as much, but I'll still give it a shot.

Wait for the trade.

It's a hardcover.

My comic store always has extra copies, so I go there every couple months and get my missing issues.

Of course, a few slip through my grasp. However, I bought most of them, so I don't want to get the trade, although I want the trade so I have all the issues.

:cmad:

This is a lesson on why all comics should be one shots.

you mean you liked that character!?! to each his own i suppose...

Yeah, I liked the character. He was funny. And stupid. It was great. Sometimes a character's suckiness can lead him to becoming a fan favorite. Much like Killa Nilla from the pages of Robin. Or the Jason Todd Octopus monster from Bruce Jones Nightwing run. It's all gravy, baby. :o

In the Greatest Batman stories ever told vol.1 there's one story by O'neil and Rogers, which is similar to this preview. I recommend it. It's a solid, noir story with brillant narration.

I knew we hadn't seen the last of Damian. Awesome. Almost reminds me of the arc Busiek just did in Superman.

story sounds kinda intresting, but that suit is crap

I feel I don't have a complete grasp on what Grant Morrison is doing with this title yet. But I do enjoy it more than the gross of comics I pick up.
Can't wait to see what happens.

That looks very interesting. I can't wait to see how Gotham's changed in that issue.

*finshes issue 663*

I don't think I like this style. It was like reading a badly illustrated fanfic. It dragged on forever and then abruptly ended. I certainly hope the rest aren't going to be like this...

:csad:

Anything good happen in it between Batman and Joker, squeek??

Hard say, it was in "It was a dark and stormy night" style prose which I hate.

I suck at summeries but it went something like this -- Joker wakes up in Arkham with a reconstructed face. Batman goes to see him because some of Joker's henchmen got wasted and he thinks Joker did it. Turns out it was Harley Quinn, doing it to lure Batman to where the Joker is so Joker can kill him. Joker had something else in mind -- he wants to kill HQ (because he's just crazy that way) and he wanted Batman to watch. Batman saves HQ but struggles with the Joker and then HQ shoots the Joker in the shoulder and the issue abruptly ends. I honestly thought a page was missing...

Totally agree. It was just weird overall. At first I was thinking "What the hell is going on," then half-way through it was "Hey, this is rather interesting," and finally it ended with "Yeah, no, this isn't that great." If done in normal panel-format, this issue would probably be substantially better, but Morrisson's prose is just a little too distracting for me. The art also looked too much like screen captures from some crappy Batman computer game. Not too crazy about the perma-smile on the Joker, either.

^^ That's pretty much what we got.

Actually I ddin't like the art, it looked tooabstract and computer generated. I like good ol' realistic Kubert type stuff. :D
