I always like this one as a youngster...

^^^^…One of my favorite moments in the film Stu…

Michelle will always be my Catwoman…

…and loving the toy pics…I remember the "Laser" Batman…I always referred to it as the puffer Batman…

I think my favorite moment in the movie is when Shreck goes, "...and Bruce Wayne, why are you dressed like Batman?'. It's so funny and perfectly executed, that I can't help but laugh every time. It's so good.

The entire finale at the Arctic World…I love it…Shreck does provide some laughs with his delivery throughout the film…

Has there ever been (before or since) a better performance by a female in a comic book film?

I think not.

How did Bruce get home that night from the abandoned Zoo? Did he just self-destruct the Batskiboat and have Alfred pick him up somewhere in the car? Or did he convert the Skiboat into land mode?

Michelle is so sexy... when she was dirty/crazy Catwoman at the end.

I just watched the movie. It really is the worst Batman film, but boy is it the best Tim Burton film and is entertaining as hell.

Boy, is THAT a loaded statement around here. And from a moderator, too!

At the risk of seeming provocative: Really? Worse than Batman & Robin?

BR is a winner for me. Not an iconic moment like B89, or a blockbuster in the traditional sense. But more of a character piece with amazing visuals and atmosphere. I'm glad Burton had the guts to make something like it, it's Batman through and through yet there's still nothing really like it.

I believe there was a PC version of the game back then. Anybody played that?

There's a difference between worse Batman film and worse film in general.

Batman and Robin at least tried to be a Batman film. I at least feel like I am watching a movie with Batman in it. It absolutely failed as film though and is a piece of garbage, but at least it's a Batman movie at minimum. It was bogged down by trying to modernize an out of date version of Batman (the Adam West version) and movie executives seeing the film as an advertising venture first and foremost as opposed to being a true film.

Batman Returns on the other hand didn't even try to be a Batman film, it was a Tim Burton film the same way that Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and the Nightmare Before Christmas are Tim Burton films. Unlike the first Batman film which felt like a combination of a modernized Bill Finger/Bob Kane Batman with Tim Burton's visual flair, Batman Returns was a balls to the wall, absurd, extremely Gothic, Tim Burton film. Asides from the whole Batman motif, there is nothing about Batman Returns that feels like Batman. You can replace Batman with any generic vigilante and you would still have the same film. Even the producers have admitted that they see it as a Tim Burton film first and foremost as opposed to being a Batman film. Burton really had no desire to make a real Batman film after the first one.

That said, as a film though, Batman Returns is absolutely brilliant. The cast is amazing, Danny Elfman's score is amazing, the visual style is amazing, I love the plot, I love the characters, I love how dark the film is, and I just love how absolutely absurd and goofy everything is in the film. Even though it's a really ****** Batman film, it's just an absolutely amazing film and dare I say, Tim Burton's best work.

Is Batman and Robin a better Batman film than Batman Returns? Yes. But is it a better film in general than Batman Returns? Hell no! Batman Returns is easily in my top 10 of movies. I love it more than Tim Burton's first film. Batman and Robin though is in my top 10 worst movies ever made even though it is an actual Batman film.

Which version is this?

The SNES version is a beat-em-up.

The Genesis version is a platformer.

I remember playing the Genesis version as a little kid.

Looks like SNES. The genesis couldn't handle those graphics. :woot:

I don't think anyone was ever trying to modernize the Adam West version. Batman Forever was more of an attempt to "fix" the Burton movies and turn the series into a more traditional Batman. They had a few homages to the old show, but overall I don't think they tried to make it Adam West. Batman & Robin is just an overblown toy commercial. They thought that what the people liked about Batman Forever was the over-the-top stuff so they amped it up to the max. Coming from Batman Forever they were in the position to make a "classic" Batman, in the vein of the 40s, 50s or 70s, now that the guy is "healed" but instead they went full ******.

Batman on NES was better! :argh:

Game Gear Returns game ruled...

Never played it. Played the Genesis version and I loved that, even though the game deviates so much from the movie (being attacked by statues and stone gargoyles around Gotham etc).

It's the SNES version. The best version.

It was so a modernization of the Adam West version in terms of tone. The only thing that was missing was the "Bam" "Pow" "Whack" popping out in fights.
