I don't know why some are so resistant to the idea either. There's far more absurd things than that in this movie.

I'd also like to know where exactly on the movie commentary Burton says it wasn't supposed to be supernatural, because I've listened to the scenes where the cats revive her, Schreck shoots her, and the scene where she's seen alive at the end. He doesn't mention it in any of those scenes. So which scene is it does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure it's around the time she gets revived. It's been a few years since I've watched the commentary, but I know it's there somewhere.

Heh, and I'm not going back and looking for it. Burton commentaries are the worst.

Heh, there's this golden bit in Burton's BR commentary during the scene where Shreck pushes Selina out the window. It's just a mess of stammering that culminates in moment of pure gibberish. Usually he talks in half-finished sentences, but his speech legit turns into an unfiltered blob of sound there. Cracks me up every time, lol.

I read that quote, and ill say it again. He's an idiot. Of course we feed into the mythology of it all if she's telling people she has 9 lives and literally takes bullets back to back to back, while not feeling anything, moving forward as if she's been killed and has a few more lives left. It's because SHE IS a damn half-cat, half-woman in this universe. Dumb ass Burton. Shave your head.

No disrespect meant to the author of that blog, but it's not always accurate in the info it has in it. For example in that very article about the supernatural Catwoman, he has a panel posted from Batman #35 where he claims Catwoman was supernaturally ambiguous in it;

There was nothing ambiguous in that story. In that story Catwoman swapped their bullets for blanks to fool them into thinking she was supernatural.

He's says it when Bruce gets out of the car in the alley. It's there.

It's important to keep in mind that the movie originally ended with Gordon talking to the Mayor, with no shot confirming Selina survived. That's movie that Burton planned and shot. They scrambled to work in the studio note at the last second. Her cowl is pristine because it wouldn't look as cool. He makes no mention of this of course, because like a lot of directors, they don't want their fans to know how often their "vision" is diluted. This was still a Batman film after all. That's why Penguin is in the movie to begin with. Corporate bull*****.

The Catwoman movie featuring Halle Berry was originally going to be a movie for Pfieffer, but it sat in development hell for forever and Pfieffer left the project.

I have no beef with the man, this conversation is just cracking me up. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice and the Batman movies were a huge part of my early childhood.

But yes, I do love a lot of his movies(there's also a few I think are terrible). But I also grew up on Pee Wee's Big Adventure(one of my favorite comedies of all time), Beetlejuice and Batman.

Burton has definitely lost some of his steam in the latter years, but I did enjoy Frankenweenie quite a bit, and Dark Shadows was okay. I really am looking forward to Beetlejuice 2 if it's still happening. I think it could be a nice shot in the arm for him, and seeing Keaton reprise that role would be legendary. My favorite Keaton role, even over Batman.
