Though I agree with the last line. I think she did a fine job and don't find her "overrated" at all.

I thought she did a nice job too. Being "overrated" dosen't always mean "Something bad that everyone thinks is great".

Beautiful. See this one element of Batman Returns I really enjoyed was Catwoman, and her relationship with Batman/Bruce Wayne.

The chemistry between Keaton & Pfeiffer was spot on.

Just because it has silly elements in it like a rocket toting penguin army, or Batman's fancy remote batarang being stolen by a poodle doesn't make it any less dark or serious IMO.

Don't forget how the Batmobile was hot wired by a gang of clowns and a monkey, the Penguin had a Duckmobile, people throwing vegetables and tomatoes at the Penguin, Christopher Walken, clowns from a giant Christmas package terrorizing Gotham, etc.

It's sort-of a macabre version of the Adam West tone. It's a visually darker, fantastical, more gothic. slightly "horror" mix...along with the same campiness and comedy that we are used to seeing from the 60s/Shumacher years. Adam Wests universe gone horror fantasy.

I felt the first Burton movie had more of that serious meets campy combo. While Returns went really crazy with it. Everything in the movie was like a nutty carnival.

This guy nails it on the head. The only real difference between the camp and ridiculousness in Batman Returns in comparison to the camp in Batman & Robin is that it was applied much more effectively in Batman Returns to the point where it was really enjoyable.

I had the original Catwoman from BR action figure with the "whip action" leg mode. I was looked at strange but I played with that as much as I did Batman if not more.
