This is unabashed hyperbole. Golovkin has beaten Kassim Ouma, Matthew Macklin, Daniel Geale, Marco Antonio Rubio, and Martin Murray. All of those men have been world-class boxers. Some of them reigned for a bit as recognized world champions. Hardly cab drivers.

All journeymen who are near the end of their careers or a guy who's biggest "win" is against a injured Sergio Martinez. You know what would shut up the GGG haters? If he fought one of the guys who is calling him out instead of using the money excuse. To be the most feared guy in boxing, guys are coming out the wood works calling this guy out for a fight. They all see chinks in his armor and want to be the one who ends the hype train. There's no money in fighting Andrade but yet there was in fighting Murray? Don't know if people realize but the "GGG hate" is growing more and more because people are starting to see him as a guy with talent but also more hype than anything else. He's looking more and more like Donaire each time he fights.

:whatever:

Yet Ward has been and is continuing to fight bum after bum in Oakland and not a peep from you. "oh I'm watching Ward school somebody right now" Yeah you and a few other handful of people.

http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-100-saturday-cable-originals-6-20-2015.html

Ward's fight was a bust. Worse than the Lara fight, worse than women's soccer, and worse than F1 qualifying, not the actual race, but the qualifying. :funny::lmao:

Ward needs to get back on HBO, fight more often and challenge the lt Heavies. Fonfara and Pascal would be good starting points, then there's Stevenson and if he really wanted to sack up, there's Kovalev.

But instead he wants the fast easy paycheck. He thinks he's PPV ready? LOL not with those ratings.

The fight was on BET. NO ONE expected it to do Floyd numbers. It's only a tune up fight and HBO didn't want to televise it. His next fight will be on HBO. Do you not follow boxing? It's been stated on numerous sites that was the deal.
Yet you say Ward can't do anything but some of HBO's highest numbers were by Ward. Either you are a casual fan who doesn't know boxing at all or just makes things up. It amazes me how Manny was the "people's champ" and now that he has lost, it's on to GGG. What do they have in common? Both HBO hype jobs who got(or will get) exposed when they got in with real boxers.

Your'e asking me if I follow boxing? ME, who has PROVED you wrong on many occasions if I follow boxing? lol.

And Ward sure thought it would be seen by a lot of people

Ward said. "I'm equally excited to be fighting on BET in front of a potential viewership of over 90 million homes.
:funny::lmao:

And no HBO's highest rated boxing matches did not come from Ward, his highest rated fight was against Chad Dawson, 3 years ago and did a modest 1.3 million views, but that was already being helped with Vitali Klitschko as the lead in fight being telecast on HBO from Germany.

Ward/Rodriduez did lower at 1.2 million views. #11 for 2013

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/despit...-ratings-in-banner-boxing-year-204009683.html

His fights from the super 6 tournament were on Showtime.

So he's obviously on the B-side of the negotiations, you really think HBO wants to put him and GGG in a PPV fight? LOL not happening anytime soon. And if it's on regular World Championship Boxing, you really think Ward is going to want WCB B-side money? You really think he's going to accept going from a 2 million payday on BET to under a million or a million?

You're delusional if you think that. His best bet is to fight the Fonfara or Pascal on HBO, A-Side, look spectacular and then get in line for GGG and Kovalev.

He's got nobody to blame but himself for not getting the big fights.

Aren't those around the same number that GGG has? I mean, using the same website you just used, GGG is at 1.4M so that makes them around the same grade. Both 1A and 1B. Again, BET a station no one watches on the same night of Broner/Porter. A lot of people didn't even know Ward was fighting because of the hype surrounding PBC.

I see Cotto giving GGG a fight for about 6 rounds before he gets KO'd. GGG is just to big for dude. He should just give up that Middleweight title because the only reason he won it is because he fought a broken Sergio. I honestly think Canelo would beat GGG. GGG has power but dude's defense is severely lacking and suspect. Canelo has underrated hand speed and won't have to cut weight if he was to fight him.

Again, I think Cotto is being underrated here. I don't know if he'd beat him, all I'm saying is he would be a better opponent than anyone he's faced so far, even if Cotto isn't a true MW. The man took shots from Margarito with who knows what in his gloves, I don't think he'd just crumble. And if he can get it to later rounds, I think he can definitely outbox him.

Canelo, until I see otherwise, still has problems with gassing out. I think GGG would get him into later rounds and have his way, but still in all, either of those guys I would view as legitimate steps up in competition for sure...

Exactly. They really need each other, although nobody will admit it, to really break out and become bigger names. Besides that, Ward is definitely the one who'll give him work, so it would be a great fight. As I've said numerous times, fights like these usually do get made, just not at the right time.

Agreed 100% about everything except Canelo. The reason I think Canelo gasses like he does is to cut weight. If he fought GGG, he won't have to cut as much weight.

GGG and Ward will happen. Both camps have spoken about it and all they are doing now is building the fight up. HBO even said as much. Did you hear GGG "get out of character" and lash out at Ward? It's the first time he didn't appear happy and told what went on behind the scenes. This is all hype and building up for their fight which I believe will happen next year. I honestly think GGG/Ward happens before GGG/Canelo.

That was back in 2013, Ward's ratings have taken a huge nose dive since. If he had kept active and fought more often, then yeah, there would be a case for him to be 1A or 1B. But right now, he's definitely on the B-side of things.

As it is right now, GGG wants to unify at 160, and wants the big Canelo/Cotto payday. He said the only way he goes to 168 is for PPV fights. Chavez Jr isn't going to happen anymore and Froch can't decide if he's going to fight again or not.

If Ward/GGG happens it will be in 2016, and that's if Ward continues to fight and not take long layoffs and fights decent competition.

As far as him fighting Cotto or Canelo: Cotto ain't fighting GGG, he's pretty much said that and Canelo plans on fighting him two years from now. GGG will continue to fight nobodies or has beens unless he goes up or down or face some of the people calling him out. As for Ward's ratings, dude hasn't fought in almost a year and a half. Talk to me when his tv ratings on HBO dip. Until then, BET was simply an airing of one of his sparring sessions.

Oscar De La Hoya considering surprise comeback

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/jun/23/oscar-de-la-hoya-comeback-42-new-32

Oscar De La Hoya is serious about making a surprise comeback, more than six years since announcing his retirement.

The American, whose last bout was a defeat to Manny Pacquiao in December 2008, last week ruled out a return after Floyd Mayweather had hinted the six-weight world champion was on the verge of boxing again.

However, the 42-year-old, who has been concentrating on his promotional company Golden Boy since retiring, told ESPN he is in “the shape of his life” and weighing up the possibility of making a comeback.
“It’s got to be worth my while but this is very serious,” De La Hoya said. “I have to make sure I am fighting the very best. I don’t have to come back for financial reasons or the lights or the glamour. The only reason I would come back is because I miss the competition of fighting the very best.
“I feel amazing. In my life right now, I have so much motivation. I am so hungry and so determined. My plan is long term with Golden Boy, with me personally, my family, my business. I am young, I am healthy and I feel great – 42 is the new 32.”
After losing to Mayweather on a split decision in May 2007, De La Hoya revealed last week that a rematch clause with his unbeaten compatriot had already expired. But with Mayweather yet to announce his next opponent following his victory over Pacquiao, De La Hoya indicated that he would only be interested in returning to fight his old adversary or reigning WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.
“I just feel good and when I walk the streets, everyone tells me: ‘You have to fight Floyd again, you have to fight GGG. You can do it, you can do it,’” he said.
“I just feel great physically. I’ve been taking care of myself. I’ve been doing the Bernard Hopkins lifestyle. You can turn the clock back to a certain time.
“I want to fight one of them because they are the best and I always fought the best. That’s what boxing is all about – fighting the best.”
De La Hoya, who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, has had two spells in rehab since retiring. But he insisted that he dreams of emulating Sugar Ray Leonard, who returned to the sport after nearly three years out to beat reigning middleweight champion Marvin Hagler in 1987.
“Right now I feel the best I have felt in my life physically, emotionally, mentally because I haven’t touched alcohol for I don’t know how long. I’m training. I feel great. But it has to be worth my while,” said De La Hoya.
“Would I do it? I don’t know but I wake up every morning thinking that I can. I think about Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. If [Leonard] could do it, why can’t I? We both come from similar situations. We are both hungry for the competition, we’re both ambitious. So you never know. At the same time, I wish time flies by so I don’t have to come back.”

Well I guess we agree on one thing then, the GGG/Ward fight is going to have to wait.

According to WBC prez M. Suilaman, the winner of Canelo/Cotto is going to have to face GGG. I know Cotto would relinquish the belts before facing GGG, but Canelo would face GGG. The problem is would Oscar let him.

Speaking of, Oscar needs to knock it off with this comeback nonsense. He would receive permanent damage if he came back. He would look as bad as when Leonard tried to come back VS Norris or Ali Vs Spinks.

Cotto has basically said in so many words he ain't fighting GGG. I agree, I do think Canelo would fight GGG in a heartbeat but Oscar ain't letting it happen no time soon. Canelo is kind of stubborn and may insist that it happens regardless.

Maybe Oscar wants to fall on the sword that is GGG so that he can postpone the inevitable Golovkin-Canelo superfight? Only way I can logically explain a comeback, if it happens. I think Golden Boy is hoping GGG gets old in the next year, whereas Canelo won't be old for another decade.

And Camacho, fights he conveniently omits anytime he talks about Sugar Ray. He acts like he came back, beat Hagler, and that was it.

I don't even see this as anything serious and honestly, call me a hater or whatever, but I'd lose whatever respect I have for GGG if he took a fight against him too.

Timothy Bradley V Jessie Vargas tonight guy's for the Interim WBO Welterweight belt.

Going Vargas. Bradley hasn't been the same since he fought Provdokov.

How many times has Bradley lost now?

WTF?! Anyone else watching regular HBO boxing in freaking spanish?!

Edit. Good call by ref to admit he was wrong.

Another Bradley fight, another controversy. Seriously has this guy ever been in fight that didn't end in controversy?

Bradley got hurt by a guy with 9 KOs. 9. His chin must be shot.

Yeah and he's calling out GGG. If this guy had him seeing stars, GGG will have him see parallel universes. He maybe able to dodge him for a minute but no way will it get past 4 rounds.
