You do realize that is why Cotto and Canelo are so popular right? They are THE PR and Mexican boxers. They carry the flags for their nations and that earns them a lot of automatic fans and viewers.

Cotto has sold well for years now because of it. He is Mr. PR. Canelo has become that for Mexican boxing. For all those that say he is a "fake" Mexican, he still has the vast majority of the crowd and has been winning more and more over with each fight.

You are trying to push a narrative no one without a bias would. No way that GGG doesn't sell a lot more with the winner of the second biggest fight of the year. A fight with a legit chance of clearing a million buys.
Dude are you looking to just debate? I said in this area, it's being built up as PR vs Mexico and I can even google somethings online to prove my point. So I'm not trying to sell anything, it's being promoted as such in this area. And I said you NEVER KNOW with regards to Ward/GGG on how it sells because no one does. My gawd dude! :whatever:

A lot of people in boxing are divas nowadays, it seems. What was Andrade doing that whole year he didn't fight.
Who? :o

I kind of want Cotto to win just so we can see him awkwardly try to answer the question again. :hehe:
One of my favorite moments in recent memory. I love Cotto, one of my favorites, but he was so clearly scared. :funny:

GGG/Ward is not happening anytime soon, which is why Ward had to give in and move up. Also, fighting at 175 changes the chances of 168 ever happening. Ward's body getting use to 175 is going to make the cut all kinds of tough. And chances are, GGG would still want it at 164. He isn't a big middleweight.

If Ward establishes himself at 175, I don't think there's any chance of the GGG fight happening. If he just has a few fights there but keeps one foot in 168, then there's still hope for it.

I will be curious to see what he weighs in for his next fight. If he is pushing 175, I think there is no chance.

What are you talking about? Of course they are pushing that angle. My point is, that is why they are moneymakers. They have nations behind them. That gets viewers.

And what a false argument. You literally just argued "you never know". Yes, I do know, because I follow the sport and I know what I am talking about. You never know, maybe Khan vs. Bradley could be the biggest selling fight of the year? Wait no, I live in reality.

Ok........................I'm just not going to reply to your post any more. I honestly have no idea how to respond any more.

There has been an increase in fighters who think they are worth more than they really are, whether it's in terms of skill or star appeal. Ward thinks he's more popular than he really is; Broner thinks he's an elite fighter. Things like that.

I like how he said something to the effect of, Canelo is just another chapter in the book, but when GGG was brought up he's like, "Uhhhhh."

Of course you don't. I don't need to label you any ridiculous names to point out the obvious flaws in your reasoning.

I truly dislike Broner. Watching him get his ass kicked is one of my favorite past times. He doesn't train like the fighter he thinks he is. But at least he fights people. Not always, and he has taken a lot of cupcakes. But he lost against his two legit opponents. That he at least took those fights is better then the majority at this point.

Do you think he thinks he can beat Canelo? I personally think Canelo is going to win, but what do you think Cotto believes? Does he see the paycheck or does he really think, "I can get him"?

I give him credit for taking the Porter fight, but Maidana was perceived to be a relatively easy fight for him. Some of us knew Maidana was going to be dangerous, but most people were picking AB in an easy decision.

I think he believes he can win; whether or not he's right, is a different issue entirely. All I know is that we're going to see whether the "Freddie Roach Cotto," is really all that improved. Personally, I think he's got the skills and experience to pull it off, but Canelo's size advantage is going to be a major issue imo. And Canelo has a pretty good skillset himself.

True. Though I still think it is funny that they thought they could move up and bully a guy like Maidana. His team is full of idiots. :funny:

I think the biggest problem for Cotto is that Canelo doesn't seem to give up and Cotto isn't all that elusive. If Cotto had a legit bike he could ride, he might have a real chance. But Canelo is a bit like Margarito in this situation, just with a lot better movement. He can give chase in a way that will wear Cotto down, while beating him up.

Ironically, Broner actually did better when he came forward. He got clipped when he was moving around, trying to be "slick." Unfortunately for him, when you move forward against a guy like Maidana, you're going to take punishment.

Canelo is bigger and more powerful than Margarito, which is why I think Cotto will have a hard time whether he wins or not. But Canelo doesn't pressure you like Margarito does. Cotto crumbles against activity; Margarito was constantly coming forward against him and he couldn't keep up with the combinations against Pacquiao and Trout.

Broner's attempts at the shoulder roll. :funny:

Canelo doesn't get quite the same pressure, but he can pressure and because of how he hits, I think it will be just as big a problem. If he throws to Cotto's body early, I think he will knock Cotto out late.

I know the opponent is very different, but I remember thinking the same thing going into the Lara fight: "If Angulo can get to Lara, Canelo should be able to get to him better." In that fight he showed me that he just cannot apply pressure in the typical Mexican style. However, I wouldn't be shocked if your prediction comes true.

Broner tries to be a mini Floyd only he's the poor blind man's version of Floyd.

Yeah Bronner sucks, gave up on him already as America's next great fighter, hoping Wilder will be that in the heavyweight division. America needs a boxer to get behind like PR has Cotto and Mexico has Canelo.

I'm telling you guys, this isn't going to be easy for Canelo at all, Cotto is the much better boxer. If he chooses to box, and not brawl, he will win this fight.

Cotto is a better boxer, but he isn't a very good athlete. He always gasses hard down the stretch, even when he wins. At his age, taking shots from Canelo won't be easy.

To be fair, Canelo's gas tank isn't great either. Fortunately for them both, neither guy fights at a grueling pace.

Cotto also has a weaker chin. He always leaves himself open for uppercuts and those are his kryptonite. The young lion will win this one.

I straight-up disagree with the assertion that Cotto is a better boxer (i.e. a better ring general) than Canelo. Look at their fights against Austin Trout. Canelo controlled space and did whatever he wanted against Trout; Trout cruised over Cotto with little resistance.

Really? Its debatable that Canelo won that fight but I do agree that people are seriously underestimating Canelo's boxing skills. His stamina is questionable but dude has amazing hands. You can't judge him on when he fought Floyd or Lara because those make a lot of people look bad.

Cotto's been stripped by the WBC. As if his middleweight legitimacy couldn't be lessened even more.

Cotto's acting like a diva and/or straight ducking GGG. Every fighter fighting for the alphabet belts have paid sanctioning fees. Every. Single. One. He's paid sanctioning fees, on ALL the belts he's won. Now all of a sudden he feels like he's getting extorted? gtfo Cotto.

edit.

He also has bad scar tissue. Look how he looked three weeks into training camp, redness all over his face, black eye and a cut on the bridge of his nose. This could very well end up like De la Hoya/Chavez I.
