Agreed! I know what Assassin meant and he was comparing the outrage of the fight, not the fighters themselves and he's right. Canelo is the "new face" of boxing but yet he's picking on smaller guys. I don't think the guy has ever fought anyone his own size yet. He melted down to fight Floyd and Lara and I'm not sure of Angulo's weight. He's the Middleweight champion of the world but seems to only fight Welterweights and light Middleweights.

To be fair he was recognized as a 154 pounder when he fought Trout, Angulo, and Lara who were all basically his size. They were much better step ups from fighting 90 year old Mosley and 140 pound Josesito. Cotto was his first official fight at middleweight, even though he had been fighting at 155 the past few fights.

They were "his size" at weigh in but if you read my posts, I have always had a problem with guys cutting weight and re-hydrating 20 lbs overnight. I honestly believe this is what messed up Sergio Martinez's career when he fought a freaking Cruiserweight in JCC Jr. There really should be limits to how much guys can blow up on fight day. Canelo has been rumored to get up to as much as 175 lbs on fight night but fighting guys weighing 150 lbs. How is that fair?! Cotto and Canelo clearly looked like two different weight classes and this crap should not be allowed.

Sergio was also almost 40 and messed up his knee in the fight. It's not like JCC Jr wore Sergio down throughout the fight and caused irreparable damage, like his dad did to Meldrick Taylor.

That being said, some guys do grossly take advantage of before day weigh-ins.

JCC was leaning on him whenever he had a chance. That way played a huge advantage in that fight. Even when he got knocked down in the 12th round, he wasn't the same afterwards. 40 or not, Sergio was not the same afterwards and I think that fight made the difference. There are weight classes for a reason but it seems like now the lines are being blurred for money.

Well if Khan is as good as he says he is and thinks he's better than Mayweather, since he was calling him out all these years, and the people that kept saying Khan would give Mayweather problems, then they shouldn't have a problem with this fight.

I personally think it's going to be a one sided ass whipping, but the people that wanted Khan vs Mayweather shouldn't be chiding this fight.

and in other news, GGG just signed up to fight another tomato can.

That Khan/Canelo fight ain't going past 4 rounds. If Algeiri can have Khan wobbly, I can only imagine what Canelo is going to do to him. If it goes past 4, it's only because Canelo is toying with him.

As far as GGG, I have no comment. I don't understand how this guy keeps getting passes for fighting nobodies and then to be ranked #1 P4P in many polls, I just don't get it. But then again, he and Canelo are supposedly taking "safe" fights before their showdown in September. I will believe that fight is happening when I see it. No way do I think Canelo will take that fight right now.

By the way, Oscar fought at 154 and 160 before fighting Hopkins. He won titles at both weight classes. Did you even realize that?

What exactly suggests to you that I didn't already know that? Oscar looked like **** against Sturm and was gifted the WBO belt so that a meeting with Hopkins could go on unimpeded. His credentials at middleweight were about as strong as Khan's are now, really. Did you even realize that?

So you are just going to skip 154, where he fought multiple times? There is a sea of difference between 147 and 154 when compared to 160. It is why Floyd, an average 147 in terms of size, wouldn't mess with 160. Oscar late in his career couldn't make 147, which is why he fought at 154.

Sergio wasn't the same after that fight because his knee was ruined. It wasn't purely JCC jr.'s weight that caused the damage. Although It was definitely an advantage, seeing as Maravilla couldn't hurt him and Junior was physically stronger. I just don't think weight single-handedly ended Sergio's career.

Fighters abuse the weight limits because the thinking is, "why fight guys my own size if I can make a lower weight and beat up on smaller fighters. Lower risk and it boosts their ego. I don't condone it but I acknowledge that it happens.

It happens entirely too much, and I do think that there needs to be some sort of limit to how much you can rehydrate. If you're 20+ pounds over the weight limit on the night of the fight, what's the point of the weigh-in, in the first place?

This is what the once great Roy Jones Jr has been reduced to. :csad:

So much for the love of the game. Man needs money, bad.

Martin has balls, that for sure! Anyway, I'm picking Joshua by KO. Martin has to be the worst champion I have ever seen.

So Manny is a completely horrible person. So the biggest fight of all time was between a woman beater and a bigot.

We already knew that about Manny. Fanatical Catholicism still reigns in the Philippines, hundreds of years after the Spanish finished raping and pillaging the islands. I believe, in some parts, they still host annual ceremonies where they choose a citizen to crucify, literally. Really, they're colonized still, and colonized people are kept ignorant.

In other news, to the surprise of no one with a brain in their head, Mayweather has teased a return.

There will be consequences to what Manny said, and I hope he learns from it.

Nike dropped Manny. Also I thought he was a born again Christian, not Catholic. Am I wrong?

Manny f***ed up. If he felt that bigotry within him, he should have kept it to himself. It's one thing to oppose gay marriage but he took it to the nth degree by saying a gay person is worse than an animal.

With that said, Nike needed Pacquaio more than he needed them to be honest. The sad thing is Nike does far worse than a derogatory comment.

You're right.

That was quick. I assume more sponsors will drop him now too?
Maybe. Depends on the origin of the sponsors. Some are quite fine with bigotry.

The boxing forum Docker2.0 loves to talk about is taking this news well. In that they are supporting Manny, saying even worse things about the LGBT community, and show they still have no knowledge of boxing or the world in general.

Hey! Leave me out of this! :argh:
