We'll...I guess we'll find out about all that. Ward never really was super fast, he's Hopkins 2.0 essentially. And can be just as rough.

I suppose since he's a religious and humble guy out the ring, without a particularly "scary look," there's a misconception about his toughness and style. Ward can be a nasty customer, sometimes borderline dirty. And most likely he'll be right in front of Kovalev, I'm interested to see how he'll handle that...

I have no misconception on how Ward fights. I saw his fight with Froch. I know he can do the Hopkins thing. Kovalev has been doing his thing at 175, and Ward wasted his prime sitting and fighting cans. He is as rough and tough as they come. If Ward was more like Mayweather, I'd probably give him a better chance. But because he needs to walk forward to be effective, I don't think his speed allows him to avoid getting hit on the way in, nor do I expect Kovalev to not be able to move his feet. He has great footwork as well.

Fight could go either way but I'm going Ward. I just don't think Kovalev has been with a boxer like Ward. Not saying it's going to be one sided but I honestly believe it will.

Can't wait until Saturday for the Porter-Thurman fight. Going to be a great day. :)

Canelo is officially a pu$$y. Putting off the fight til fall 2017, praying GGG loses before then.

Yup. It's fair to call them (Canelo, De La Hoya) outright cowards now. I thought they were all about money, but I guess not. And the audacity of scheduling it 15 months in the future? Tomorrow isn't promised for any of us. Oh well. Hopefully they jump in with the likes of Danny Jacobs, Charlo twins, et al.

Thank God for Kovalev vs Ward.

Canelo Alvarez to meet Liam Smith in junior middleweight fight Sept. 17

Why the freak are the fans booing?! It was a great fight and I had Thurman winning by 2 points as well. Porter put up a great fight but I think Keith won.

Probably Thurman running more then once. :funny:

i thought thurman won i had it tied after 10 but porter let the fight go away in last 2 rounds by not doing much

I wish I had scored this fight. Very close but Thurman probably edged it in the championship rounds, during which Porter noticeably slowed down

That being said, I think the commentary was very biased towards Thurman. Plenty of Shawn's shots at center ring were completely ignored, whereas it seemed like every punch Keith threw was lauded.

Not sure if it was biased honestly. I just think Porter is wild AF sometimes. A good boxer beats a brawler all day. At worst I had it a draw but I do think Thurman edged him out though. I'm actually surprised Porter was still standing with some of the shots Thurman was hitting him with.

Porter's ultra aggressive swing away approach is a crowd-pleasing style.

Porter's ultra aggressive swing away approach is a crowd-pleasing style.

It also lends itself to becoming inherently sloppy, which he's guilty of at times. I just don't think he did enough late to warrant a victory.

I was just talking about his style. Not the outcome.

I agree with you. I had Porter fading late and Thurman pulling it out. But I rarely score round by round. Just general feelings.

Oh Porter is absolutely wild af, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't get credit when he does do good work. For example, even though I think Thurman took the last round, Shawn landed two really good overhand rights during the round and neither were mentioned by the commentary, but the very next punch Keith threw had Mauro gushing.

Is it really? I feel like a lot of people hate how much he mauls and smothers his own work.

Porter is guilty of being sloppy all the time. All of his punches are clubbing and he's probably one of the most reckless high level boxers in the sport.

Joshua wins again, 7th round KO against Breazeale. That guy has a good chin though, withstood some big hits. But in the end he was just too slow with very little head movement, a very easy target.

Brook Vs Golovkin. :funny:

http://ringtv.craveonline.com/news/...n-to-defend-middleweight-titles-vs-kell-brook

In a surprise announcement that almost defies logic, Gennady Golovkin will defend his IBF, WBA and WBC middleweight titles against welterweight titleholder Kell Brook Sept. 10 at The 02 Arena in London on HBO’s World Championship Boxing, it was announced on Friday, leaving many in disbelief. No catch-weight was mentioned in the press release so it’s assumed the bout will take place at 160 pounds.

Wow huge fight that. Can't wait. Great for Kell Brook.

This is worse than Canelo/Khan. Golovkin should be ashamed of himself.

That said, I'll be rooting for Brook to pull off the upset.

I think it's a fine fight. Brook is the real deal at 147, and he's a weight-drainer just like most modern fighters. It's conceivable that he would opt to move up to 160 sometime in the next few years anyway, so why not now? It appears that Canelo, Saunders, Jacobs, and Eubank ultimately said no thank you to a date with GGG even though they all did a bit of yapping. Like Canelo-Khan, this will be fun to watch.

I was almost positive that Golovkin-Eubank Jr. was going to happen. I thought the Jessie Vargas fight was already official with Brook. I can't believe this happened.

I can't see Brook making it past six, unless GGG carries him.

I can't decide whether this is worse than Canelo-Khan. On the one hand, this fight is officially two full weight classes difference. On the other, Brook has fought at 154 before, while Khan was barely at 147 fighting a Canelo that was pretending to be below middleweight.

I promise you all that this fight will be better than watching Golovkin mow over Andy Lee or Jorge Sebastian Heiland or Tony Harrison (i.e. probably the only guys in the middleweight top twenty who might consider taking a realistic paycheck to fight him).
