if Cudmore was cast as superman, they really would of had to find a much taller Lois Lane, I mean, Bosworth was already like 7"-8" shorter then Routh, they would of needed an actress between 5'11-6' LOL
somewhere, between Liv Tyler, an a (dark hired) Maitland Ward, which actually either, would of been good in my book, though, both are a few years older then Cudmore (which actually also, would of work, given the timeline)

Hey, I think you are right, but again, if I were in the position, to make a Superman movie, I would have cast a lot of actors differently.

Thing is Cudmore is a few inches too tall for the role, but his facial features, his build, and non-accent deep voice are perfect for it.

Solution? Make the soles of the boots very thin for the scenes as Superman. Clark needs to be a sloucher, and every one else who would be close to Cudmore when he is Clark, in any shot, will be standing on a 2-3" thick foam mat for walking, and a box if standing still. That is how to hide height in a movie.

For the casting of Lois? We don’t need a tall actress, but it would help. If she is short, don’t use head to toe shots of her with Cudmore, and when they are face to face, she stands on a box. Easy solution = 6" box.
I actually would have gone with Elizabeth Banks as Lois. She would have definitely needed a 6" tall box.

Speaking of relationships, any chance we may see Colossus and Kitty forming some relationship in a FutureX movie would need to give Cudmore more lines.

i believe seeing more of colossus is NEEDED, it shouldn't all be about wolverine and storm. i love wolverine and am glad he is involved in the movies so much and would NOT want to see him take a back seat, but the other characters have to come into play more. first one had cyclops, jean, wolverine, storm and that's about it not including rogue. the second pretty much had the same aside from nightcrawler and iceman. the third brought in new blood so a 4th should be made revolving around those characters (wolverine, storm, beast, colossus, kitty, iceman, angel) and maybe jubilee and gambit...if the characters are spread out evenly and specially then it would work wonders...they have the glue, they just have to find out how to make it all stick together

You know, he is a big guy, but he is only around 255 pounds, which for 6'8" is no different than being 210 if he was only 6'3". He is low in bodyfat, with a good muscular build, but he does not look like a bodybuilder or a steroid user. He is huge mostly because he is very tall. I will put the math as to how I arrived at that down in a second. It is called a PI.

To make he and kitty look less weird together, just have her stand on a box, and do not use angles that show them from head to toe. Have her slightly closer to the camera, and it would not look like she is so small. Part of the Problem is that the actress who is Kitty is VERY short. I would think well below average height for a woman.

Lest just hope they don't go with the Ultimate Colossus angle.

For those who do not know, he is "close" with Northstar in the Ultimates.


Ignore the following if you hate math:

The ponderal index (PI) is a way of characterising the relationship of height to mass for an individual. It is determined by the ratio of the cube root of mass (in kilograms or pounds) divided by the height of the person (in centimetres or inches).

It is also FAR more accurate than the BMI, which uses squared as part of its formula. Squared does not work with a 3d object.

To scale a human to another height, if the proportions remained the same, we would:

1. Take the cubed root of their weight. Lets say 225 pounds = 6.0822019955734001848984449977378

2. Divide it by their height, Lets say 6’3" (75") = 0.081096026607645335798645933303171

3. Multiply the result by a new height, Lets say 6’8" (80") = 6.4876821286116268638916746642537

4. Cube that result to get the new weight = 273.06666666666666666666666666667

5. Round the result to the nearest 5 = 275 pounds is what a guy who is 225 pounds at 6’3", would weigh if he was 6’8", with the same proportions.

This formula can also be used to bust people out when they are exaggerating their weight or not. Routh was no-where near 225 lean pounds for Superman Returns, unless 15 pounds of his weight was extra fat. Otherwise he would look thicker than Cudmore was as Colossus.

The formula is perfect, and is even used industrially for the scaling of Ships and Aircraft. It works for ANY object of known weight and any dimension to be scaled up or down with proportions consistently.

If Cudmore were only 6’3", with his proportions the same, he would be only 210 pounds. Even if Routh and Cudmore were the same height, we know Cudmore would look far more muscular than Routh. Therefor, Routh was NOT 220 pounds, unless he was 16% bodyfat and that would be 10% than he should have been for his role.

16% is not enough to give you love handles or a belly, but is enough to obscure muscular deffinition in the arms and legs shoudlers and chest. It is also enough to make a guy who would only be 190 pounds if he was lean enough, weigh 220 pounds, when he should have been 225 pounds, with 10% more of his weight having been muscle.

Most people grossly underestimate their bodyfat%, and they also overestimate how heavy lean people are. Arnold as, at 6'1.5" weighed 225 pounds in the first Terminator, and 220 for T2.

I have a Friend who competes as a bodybuilder, and he is 5'9" and competes at 198 pounds, and looks like he is over 250, and most people think he is. Why is he so light? Fat accounts for a lot more of most peoples weight than they think it does, and a guy who is contest lean has none of it.

People see how wide the shoulders are, and so they guess an absurdly high weight, based on the knowledge that muscle is heavier than fat. That is correct, but people way over-estimate muscular people who are lean, because they base it off of people who are only semi-lean, such as a 6'3" guy who is 220 and is not a fat guy, but definitely could be 10% less fat. If he had 20 pounds less fat, and 20 pounds more muscle he would have the same total weight, but "look" much more massive as he would be 20 16oz-steaks larger in muscular silhouette.

This is one of the reasons we know that Cudmore was very "lean" (meaning low bodyfat%, not the same meaning as "skinny"), because otherwise 255 at 6’8" would not look very big in build, not unless very little of it is fat, and clearly that is the case.

i no this isnt superman thread but i gotta say that though cudmore has the LOOKS of superman, routh did a great job, despite not having muscles. a better director would have been able to show his skills. but i have full faith in him.

In my script, Bobby and Kitty hook up in X4, but their relationship is doomed from the start because Kitty was Bobby's "rebound" relationship after he broke up with Rogue. Rogue returns to the Mansion after recovering from the cure, and Bobby's feelings for her return. This causes a rift in their relationship, which grows to the point where they're barely speaking in X5. They break up around the middle of X5, and Kitty hooks up with Colossus for the remainder of X5 and through X6 (which would be the last of the movies).

Also, in X4, Kitty will look different. Take a look at some of the pictures of Ellen in Kitty's thread - she is really beautiful. X3 was just a bad hair and makeup job, lol. If she really is a little too short, she can wear platforms like James Marsden did.

I was wondering - would anybody be interested in seeing Colossus' little sister, Illyana/Majik, in an X4? If so, what role would you want her to play? Should she have a main role, or should she be there as a supporting character for Colossus like in my script? Also, if you have anybody in mind, who would you cast as Illyana?

Now, I'm not saying that brother and sister always have to resemble each other; however, I do think that it's a mistake to make this particular brother/sister pair look nothing like each other. How would people feel about giving Illyana a bit of a Daniel's-little-sister makeover?

Yana.. in most incarnations is a lot younger than Piotr...and I mean alot! Its only when that weird soul and dimensionthing happened that she got turned into a teenager. I'm sorry that I cant remember the exact thing off the top of my head. So we should be looking more at Dakota Fanning's age group, unless they go with the teenaged Illyana that would be about 13-15ish?

I think Colossus might be a little too old for interactions with a 13-year old sister to be interesting.

Like I said, I'm thinking she should have an image makeover in the movie. I'm thinking the character could be late teens (actress could be 20's if she can play a believable teenager), dark brown hair like Daniel, and very Russian looks. I was thinking Anna Nalick.

Now, isn't that a much more believable little sister for Mr. Cudmore? I love that look for the part; plus, she's not only the right look for the part IMO: she's also the right size. She's only 5'2", which means that Daniel's gonna tower over her (even moreso than with others). Tinier makes her look younger, weaker, and more vulnerable. Daniel being so much bigger makes the whole "protective" thing fit to a T.
