None of it's a suprise to me. I have always enjoyed Harris and Dougherty's writing, individually and together. I read the Returns script twice already and think it was well done.

The pieces are following into place as we discussed Hunter. No suprises.
Oh yeah i just had hoped they would mention another writer joing them:)

For Singer to not only mention the sequel and what he wants to do with it (Go Khan with it seems like a shout out to fans who found SR to tame) but to also mention an alien villain as well as a purposed release date of 2009 tells me it's all but sealed with WB

Is that a character poster for Spiderman 3 in your avatar? I thought it was Superman for a second.

Maybe Millar ? :D ,no one in particular just a present comic writer who could just inject some post crisis current knowledge and vibe into things

so long as its a good comic book writer i wouldnt mind.

oh and your avvy, i thought it was your manip :O so its real?

i really got to get my arse back to the Spiderboards, i am missing a lot of stuff. which post is that of doing a side by side with Routh?

Oh God.
I just wish thery would hurry up and fire Singer already. I want Superman Returns to be its own stand alone movie and they can jsut go ahead a make a new one as if SR never existed.

I am sure if Singer and company wanted to consult with one of the comic writers it would be their progative. WB wouldn't force that upon them, if they give them the keys again, they are driving.

Usually if the writers are attached to a director, the writers are attached to the director. Again, I think they did a good job with the script. I read many a script and I thought Returns was quite enjoyable.

There are instances where they have another writer come in to clean up a script if they aren't satisfied but that wasn't the case in this situation. WB was satisfied with the script, WB was satisfied with the movie and it's direction. What they were unsatisfied with was the box office.

I have a strong feeling the supervillian is going to kill Jason. Thats the only way to stir up the kind of Wrath of Khan hero/villian vibe with Routh yelling the Supervillian's name in agony and ready to beat the living hell out of him.

Considering Singer is a trek fan, Captain Kirk's illegetimate son was also killed in the film following TWoK....I wonder.

Interesting...hmmmm! :)

I really hope that Zod is not going to be used in the sequel...

Big question: I've never seen Wrath of Khan, so what do you think Singer means by that?

being a star trek fan myself, I hope that means he'll make a Star Trek movie some day...

Well me either, but I am hearing it means everything from death of a main character to actual supervillian for Superman to deal with and back to an alien invasion.

I actually think that is a strong possibility. He's huge on Star Trek.

Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan was better and darker, and more emotional than Star Trek I. It has been considered that best of those movies. Singer is a trekkie. I should also say that he put in an element from Khan to X2 and maybe thats what he meant by "be like Wrath of Khan". That element was Jean Grey's death, based on Spock's death from that film.

So it begs the question: is Singer gonna kill someone off in SR2?

It is unlikely that it will be Jason, it makes more sense if it is Richard, who dies saving; Lois, Superman or Jason.

The Wrath of Khan - a villain who our hero defeated in the past returns seeking revenge. Someone very close to our hero dies (although he's resurrected in the next film).

Also, The Wrath of Khan was one of the few sequels to be made on a much lower production budget than the film that preceded it. :D

I never could get into TOS... I'm more of a TNG fan myself, but I did like the massive feel of the TNG movies... I hope he does something that feels like that...

I'm really pissed though that he spent 10 million on a scene that we won't even get to see... there should be some find of petition to see that fotage on the DVD.

That points to Zod making an appearance and possibly Jason dying and coming back to life?:(

Superman: "Zooooooood!!!!"

Warning: This is a Star Trek injoke.

I even know that one.........KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I think we are taking things to literal with Wrath of Kahn. He probably just meant the action and tone of the film.

Oh man,you got to check it out.it is considered by many to be the best trek film.it's not only a great sci-fi film, its a damn good movie by any standard, period.

I always thought the 3rd and 4th one were better, but that's just personal preference.
