it really would have especially with the long cape it would have broke up all that red

again though at least its red and not made of pleather

Yeah.
You should see how upset I get whenever there is a new Star Wars movie, and I wonder why they don't break the black on Vader's cape.
I guess Lucas didn't care about the legions of fans he was condemning to psych wards by not adding a silver 'D' or 'V' to the cape, because all that black overwhelmed the fans.
I guess Snyder and co. are making the same mistake.

I think that the gold \S/ on the cape looks awesome. I would have preferred it being there

Yeah.

And to top it all off he made episodes 1,2 and 3 . . .

I don't like the "S" on the cape, so it's ok, the cape is too long, however.

He's disagreeing with you. Just by the way.

The realism thing is getting pathetic. Neither Chris Nolan or Zack Snyder are making films that show that Superman or Batman could really exist but moreso films centered around the thought of 'if they did exist, how would the world be?'

Oh and you're flogging a dead horse, so please stop.

I like beating dead horses...they don't fight back

seriously dude i have no problem with the suit. i was simply saying one thing that i would change. other then that i love the suit , i'm not one of the purists and hope they go with the the suit was in the ship story since it looks so alien

i also hope that his suit being blue is a big statement on the El family status in kryptonian society since it clashes with the red sun

I'm truly surprised that they went with cape that is so long that it's dragging on the ground. Don't quite see the logic in that. I'm sure however that someone will whip out the, "He's Regal" "He looks Majestic" crap to explain that choice. lol!

Haha, yeah he does look regal and majestic doesn't he... I don't like that it drags on the floor.

could set us up for a wicked awesome tattered cape scene

where is the logic in wearing the cape to begin with

It looks awesome...especially in flight :)

I'm still holding out hope that the extra long cape is only for certain shots. I'm on the Regal bandwagon and all...but while I prefer a cape that reaches to his ankles...having one that drags on the ground behind him is a bit much.

The cape looks like it's only a few inches "past" the ground. It's not like he's dragging it behind him. If he was walking briskly it might not even touch the ground. It's probably only an inch or two longer than Thor's. If you look in the below clip at about 1:45, Thor's is so long he's actually standing on it.

*WARNING* clip could contain Avengers spoilers.

...no yellow 'S' on the cape?

Bummer. Two strikes against the costume. Three if Cavill trips over that absurdly long cape while filming and breaks his nose.

I'm guessing that if that IS Henry out and about in natural light, as opposed to a closed set on a soundstage, then the full costume reveal can't be too far behind. Perhaps Sunday??

Yeah, in the classic comics the cape was actually functional. He could protect people with it, tie things up in it, use it as a net, etc.

I like the second page because of how he just tosses Blackrock's gang away like old trash.

I think the "S" letter is too similar to English lettering on Earth and it's unrealistic too me. The one that looks more like a number 8 is better looking to me. But if Superman has to use the armor as part of a family seal it should be much smaller and not so big on his chest. A small armor carved symbol could appear on his left chest, but it looks too silly otherwise. I would not have a cape at all.

...In spite of the fact that every point in this post is dead wrong, I'll just point out one particular thing: The "S" being too close to an Earth letter S (...) is only a problem if you or the creators of a certain iteration subscribe to the "The symbol is the House of El logo" thing. It's fine if it was designed by Superman himself, or even Ma and/or Pa Kent, to stand for Superman.

Just a thought, but could it be that he doesn't have the \S/ shield on his chest or on the cape early in the movie? Perhaps for some reason he adds it/them later on.

Looks like there's a shield on his chest here....
