There's not "just a bunch of blue". There's blue, black and yellow. The piping is readily apparent. It's stands out as is and adequately breaks up the suit. Making it red only serves to make it distracting. It looks unnatural. It compensates for the lack of color in that area. As it currently is, it's just a bunch of blue with a touch of dull yellow here and there. The red piping makes the mid section pop more. If anything it makes the design more interesting and bearable for those who miss the trunks.
I don't see any black..There's not "just a bunch of blue". There's blue, black and yellow.
It's apparent, but it doesn't adequately break up the suit. The piping is readily apparent. It's stands out as is and adequately breaks up the suit.
Yes...because that big red and yellow "S" in the middle of his chest TOTALLY look "natural". [/sarcasm] Making the piping red is not distracting since the most important part of the costume (the shield) is still the main emphasis.Making it red only serves to make it distracting. It looks unnatural.
Disagreed...making the piping red makes it more aesthetically pleasing.Making it red just takes the suit down a notch. There is plenty of red when the cape is added.
Very much so.idk the red piping feels kinda forced.
The lack of trunks feels forced, so any design that is spawned from the lack of trunks will feel forced. The blue piping is okay, but making the piping red compensates for the lack of red in the mid section. It also gives the piping MORE significance.idk the red piping feels kinda forced.
That's largely irrelevant to the discussion. You may not like the trunks being gone, but it doesn't make the red piping any less forced, as compared to the dark blue/black piping. The lack of trunks feels forced, so any design that is spawned from the lack of trunks will feel forced. If someone can't see the piping, there's an issue with their vision. It's pops out at you, as is. Making it red just takes the suit down a notch. There is plenty of red when the cape is added.
Agreed. My biggest complaint is that there's too much blue. The red piping would honestly help to break it up a little.
Agreed we don't need any red in that area, (not unless it's trunks lol) it'll just make it look more cluttered imo. Keep it subtle I say, that's if you could call any of Superman's costume subtle!
I think it's just that it looks good, regardless of whether it's revisionist or not. People hate change, but as long as something looks good, regardless of change, they'll accept it and even like it eventually. Just like the movie itself -- if the movie turns out to be enjoyable, people won't give two ****s about the briefs. The minority of fanboys showing disdain for the lack of briefs have already hushed to a mostly inaudible whimper, and that's almost solely because it just looks cool. Snyder & Co. hit one out of the park with this redesign.
So I take it you don't like the reboot suit/s. 0.0
ha ha ha Krypto obviously doesn't realize that we talk talk talk all this stuff to death and NO ONE is going to wait until after the movie comes out to give their opinions.
Not really...That's largely irrelevant to the discussion.
You may like the suit as is, but it doesn't make piping of any color any less forced. The red piping doesn't look anymore forced than blue piping. If anything, I'd say red piping makes the suit more warm and Supermanly than the dark blue piping which ends up making the suit feel more cold and bleak. You may not like the trunks being gone, but it doesn't make the red piping any less forced, as compared to the dark blue/black piping.
It's only distracting if you're looking directly at it. If you look at the suit as a whole (like you're supposed to do with any finished product) the shield is still very much the center piece of the suit and the red piping hardly distracts as much as you're implying. The piping is, in a way, a bit extravagant, or at least out of the ordinary. Because of that, it works well as a dark blue/black material. When it's highlighted against the blue suit (i.e., red colored, vs. the more muted dark blue/black), it gets very busy and eye-catching, almost distracting. Hence, it appears forced.
I am an artist who is constantly changing his style and methods to adapt to whatever the job or trends require of me. I actually LIKE change, as long as it is warranted and is done tastefully. Regardless of if you like the changes or not, it doesn't mean that the suit isn't subject to criticism. I criticize MANY things that I actually love. I love The Dark Knight but it has inconsistencies. I love System of the Down but there are things that they sing about that I don't agree with. I LIKE this suit, but there are certain things they could've done to make it better (not even talking about trunks).People hate change, but as long as something looks good, regardless of change, they'll accept it and even like it eventually.
If that's so, then why are they constantly being discussed in this thread? The minority of fanboys showing disdain for the lack of briefs have already hushed to a mostly inaudible whimper, and that's almost solely because it just looks cool.
I'd say they did a great job with most of it. There isn't anything that I HATE they way I disliked the collar and boots on Singerman, but there are things that they could have done to really make it awesome.Snyder & Co. hit one out of the park with this redesign.
