Agreed people have FAR too much time on there hands if all they can do is ***** and moan about someones costume in a film.
If they hate it that much go make your own film ... oh but thats too hard so I will just stay on my computer and moan and hope they will change it!

Nothing else to talk about, you can either hate it or love it but its the topic of conversation right now.

that's good to hear. never thought he is that wellknown though.

well, hope his girlfanbase will increase tremendously then to ensure a good box office result.

Cavill fangirls are pretty rabid, but they're not as intense as the Baleheads.

I actually hate alot of the Batman fandom in general. I still visit the boards and give my opinions though because I love Batman.

Extreme fandom for any of these properties is not a good idea.

Well, I think as fans, we have the right to voice our concerns and thoughts regarding the appearance or handling of anything present in the films we're waiting for with great anticipation; it's only the way that we voice these thoughts that I think we should be prudent about at times.lol

Nevertheless, I'm still on the fence on this costume. Henry's face is no doubt emitting the Superman persona, so at least that concern is gone and taken cared of, the costume on the other hand, not so much for me at least...

I never said I had a problem with anyone liking or disliking this costume and voicing that opinion.

My apologies for the confusion, I wasn't referring that (my) comment at you. My post was directed towards the less civilized posters from other threads.

I dont like the suit but cant say the muscle suit bothers me to much, I think it comes down to other actors hitting the gym for their role and Cavill and Snyder method just comes across as lazy and cheating.

Cavill's already mentioned in interviews about hitting the gym and his daily calorie intake.

Exactly, and to quote the interview with Henry...

"...Cavill recently told Total Film magazine what his exercise routine looks like: “I’m on 5000 calories a day… You’ve got to eat protein first, then a little bit of carbs…you’ve gotta keep your hunger levels going. I’m training two and a half hours a day, pushing my body beyond its normal limits, putting on a lot of muscle mass and just making myself look like Superman.”

I've also read he gained 22 LBS of muscle mass since Immortals (for superman), and we all see how RIPPED Cavill is in that movie.

I have no question in my mind that 90-95% of what we are looking at when he is in the suit are/is all natural body mass & muscle definition.

Yeah, that would be like someone with FAR too much time on their hands, that they need to come to a costume discussion thread to complain about people complaining about the costume.:cwink:

Maybe not the definition, but a lot of the mass I'm sure come from his work in the gym.

When someone's confused, I let them know it.
Well then maybe you should look in the mirror and let that person know...

Actually, it does. Red colored piping distracts considerably from the other parts of the costume. It almost diverts attention entirely, particularly upon initial viewing, because of how new it is to the Superman costume.
Thank you for proving my point about the lack of trunks. For all intents and purposes the no trunks look is new to the Superman costume and because Superman's classic look is so iconic, any design that is a product of taking away the trunks will automatically draw attention to his midsection regardless of the design. Regardless of the color of the piping, it would take away attention from the suit simply because there's something missing from the suit that everyone is associated with and they will be inclined to look at his midsection even if there was no design there.

The dark blue/black piping is much more subtle, while still sufficiently breaking up the costume.
It sufficiently breaks up the costume but only minimally. If having the trunks is the maximum and having the blue piping is the minimum, the red piping is a happy medium.

Lemme ask you something....is there anything about this suit that you DON'T find to be perfect?

Thanks, but I'm pretty clear on the fact of how confused you were on the issue, though.

Actually, you just proved *MY* point. The piping is obvious. Everyone's attention *IS* drawn to it, without it being red. There's no need to draw any more attention to it. Doing so becomes too distracting. A more subtle color is necessary to make the suit flow more naturally, without looking forced.

Thanks, that's the point. Glad we can agree.

Blue piping isn't the minimum. It is the happy medium.

I would have preferred a different style \S/ (though its grown on me) and I'm not too keen on closeups of the texture, on both the body of the suit and the \S/ in particular. I'm not too keen on the top of the boots either. I would have preferred they look less "comic book-like" and more realistic. Also, I hope the red of the cape isn't as muted as in the promo pic.

But all in all, they exceeded my expectations.

About as clear as the bathroom mirror after a long, hot shower. Look...I'm glad to discuss the costume with you, but whenever you tell someone that they don't know something or that they're confused, you come off as a pompous wanna-be know-it-all. I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but it's one of the main reasons why I feel the urge to debate your points. Just because someone disagrees with your opinion doesn't mean they know less than you or are confused.

Actually, you just proved *MY* point. The piping is obvious. Everyone's attention *IS* drawn to it, without it being red.
Actually...this was my point. If you re-read my last post I clearly said that any no trunk design would draw attention to the midsection regardless of the design. You just reiterated and backed up my statement.

There's no need to draw any more attention to it. Doing so becomes too distracting. A more subtle color is necessary to make the suit flow more naturally, without looking forced.
About the closest thing to "natural" is the classic suit since it's already been established for close to 80 years. Anything else looks "UNNATURAL". That being said, it's your opinion that is looks forced. My opinion is that ANY design without trunks looks forced. These opinions don't disagree...however, the red piping breaks up the midsection better than blue piping.

Blue piping isn't the minimum. It is the happy medium.
But you JUST agreed with me that the blue piping breaks up the midsection but only MINIMALLY!! You can't have the blue piping do it's just job only MINIMALLY but still be a happy medium. A happy medium is a compromise. If one wants trunks and the other one wants blue piping, the happy medium is red piping.

I would have preferred a different style \S/ (though its grown on me) and I'm not too keen on closeups of the texture, on both the body of the suit and the \S/ in particular. Ah...well at least you're not someone who blindly loves everything the movie throws at them.

Anyone see a decent shot of the actual "boots? The foot area? In the official shot it looks like very thin, stocking like boots. You can see his ankle bones etc.

In the official pic, Cavill's left boot has an obvious sole. And in other pics, the boots have noticeable heels. So, no, Supes won't be running around in stocking feet.

Where have you seen this? Links?

well I didn't think he'd be in his footie PJs:yay:

but they do seem "thin" and not SR boot like. More like the Comic look I guess. Seem like Racing shoes or Wrestling boots. Just curious. Just like the "leggings" part of the boots seeming like one piece with the suit.

Again, much more like the comics look

this is the best I've seen

Maybe i'ts supposed to be a Kryptonian "pressure suit? Although it would have been a little big on him for the trip to Earth.

Does have the features of one though. Tight, cooling ribs? Cape...

For those who think Cavill's physique is solely dependent on the MOS (Superman) suit, here's another rare pic from Immortals:

Immortal_Cavill_pumped.jpg
And keep in mind, he was supposedly 25 lbs lighter in muscle mass when this picture was taken.

I wonder how those "boots" stay up?
