Although it might not be your cup of tea. I was thinking since there's been talk of a new Superman game possibly from the guys who made Arkham Asylum/City that it would be nice to see the current comic costume (no, not the jeans and t-shirt. The Kryptonian armour ). That or the studios own interpretation would be nice since they did a decent job with Batman's costume.

Also I'm not opposed to having the look for a new cartoon or some other form of media. We've already had a few series and a plethora of games (still waiting for that good one apparently) that have used the classic costume. It's not going to hurt if they ended up using the new costume.

Looks like the next DTV original movie will have the classic.

I'm not sure what part that's directed at. So I'll assume it's the alleged alternative to the old cartoon.

Though just to clarify if there was a new series I wouldn't mind if they used the new costume design like this one.

It's pretty much the classic with an update. Plus any new series or game is only going to last so long and there will always be another iteration of Superman on the small screen in various forms so it's not a big deal.

Jim Lee's costume looks awful unless he is drawing it, and it will look even worse in animation. Superfluous lines just don't work in that medium.

Personally I think with a bit of tweaking that costume could easily work in animation. I think like you said there may be some superfluous lines, but I think if they got a standard where it didn't have too many armour segments without betraying the look and keeping it subtle it might look pretty elegant (like I think it does in the pic posted in my last post).

Those do look good, though it does sorta highlight the fact that I'd change the design of the boots if I could.

I think the collar and the cuffs need to go. They look too formal for Superman.

New costume sucks no matter who draws it, but the character who wears it is much closer to what Superman should be than he was for most of the last 25 years. Sadly enough, the last few issues of the old Superman and Action were actually good and felt more like Superman as well.
