Wasn't the name Linda Danvers already taken by the tube skirt angel Supergirl, anyway?

Much of this stuff is graven on the Palimpsest that underlies space/time so that it has to reestablish itself eventually. :)

Intellectually, I understand that "Linda" was the Kryptonian Supergirl's name first and that Linda Danvers taking that name in the 90s was itself an homage to that silver age Supergirl.

Emotionally, I think it's utter cock to have such a flagrant in-our-face about the Linda persona all the while she's literally rotting in hell right now, stuck under Lilith's command. Thanks, Keith Giffen! ****ing go back to Marvel now, kthx.

As someone who DESPISED the Matangel "Supergirl" I love that thats her fate :)

Do you despise punctuation marks, too?

Really? The current Supergirl is actually an improvement over her for you? I wasn't particularly attached to the Matrix/angel Supergirl either, but... really?

I'd rather have tube skirt angel Supergirl than that vacuous little tart that got shoved down my throat for an entire arc of Superman/Batman and the first issues of her own comic, and has yet to improve to the best of my knowledge.

I do
They've slacked off on me lately
The little bastards

And Corp, the fact that its back to Kara Zor-El in any sense is an improvement to me. Supergirl SHOULD be Superman's cousin, not some protoplasmic blob that becomes an angel. Sure, up until recently she's been godawfully written, but that's improving.

See the problem here is that you read Superman/Batman.

Christ I'm on a roll.

In seriousness, there have been improvements. The series really hasn't been horrible for a long time.

Well she wasn't much better by the time Infinite Crisis rolled around either, so I pretty much gave up on her. I even stopped reading Legion of Superheroes trades once I heard she became the title character. I would've picked that title back up, but I hate trying to reconcile Crisis-related continuity snafus, and there are just too many damn versions of the Legion running around for me to bother.

Incidentally, DC's many Crisis related continuity snafus are the main thing that keeps me from reading most of their titles. For every Crisis that happens, I drop more books.

Superman's not really the Kents' son, but that doesn't make a difference to anyone. I liked the fact that the post-Crisis Supergirl was another weird orphan, much like Clark. They were related symbolically rather than literally.

I really had no problem with her, up until the Peter David series. It was making Supergirl an angel that grinded on me and made me drop the book. Part of it may be pure dislike of all that David did too, though.

stupid question : is Darkseid, technically, dead ? (since the Flashes brought Death upon him) ... and if so .... Black Lantern ? ....... naaaaaah.

I've only read a couple issues of Supergirl's comic. Regardless of the version, I've never really been interested in the character. Gender-swapped versions of major characters always have a much greater burden of inherent lameness to overcome for me.

Please, WITHOUT SPOILERS:

Does SANDMAN get much better after Preludes and Nocturnes? I'm enjoying it, but it seems to go all over the place. I've heard people say that P&N is the worst of the collected TPB.

Yeah, it gets much better. The best books are around the middle, if I recall correctly.

Yes, Sandman gets amazing.

I'm going to pick up the Allan Heinberg Wonder Woman TP soon, as a new WW reader, might I enjoy it?

Eh, I can't tell you. I'm a late 90's - 2000's WW reader, so it sucked to me.

I think I'll go with it. The artwork will be solid but I've heard a lot of negative reviews from people who are passionate about WW to begin with but I figured since I've never read any of her books, I might get a kick out of reading it but who knows.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy it and just grab some of the Greg Rucka WW trades instead. You'll get a far better read in the end.

Well, Wonder Woman the Hiketeia is always a good start. Nothing gets the jucies flowing like WW kicking Batman's ass.

Followed by Down to Earth, Bitter Rivals, Challenge of the Gods, Land of the Dead, and Mission's End. In that Order I believe.

And after that, you can try that Who is Wonder Woman trash if you want. But if you do so after all i've just told you to read, well, then you'll see why we say it was crap.
