The Official DC Stupid Question Thread....

He's locked up somewhere in Wayne Tech, I think no one outside the general Bat-family know he's there

The public think that Bruce is traveling around the world, living it up. And tons of media reports are confirming this (probably tabloids). Hush running around as Bruce actually helped the Bat-family sell the story since 'Bruce' was showing up after Batman's death.

Dick and Tim locked Elliot up in a secure cell in Wayne Tower.

OK, OK, what is with this hatred of Barry Allen?

I mean, I like Wally more as the Flash then I do Barry. My preference for Wally is because he's the Flash of my generation. When I 1st came to know Flash, it was Wally. I even became a fan of Jay Garrick and Bart Allen, cause they were around at the time, while Barry was not. So Wally became my favorite Flash.

But I don't hate Barry, and I keep seeing posts and reading people's opinions on Barry and these people seem to hate Barry. While I understand the one's who don't like Barry because he's not their Flash, I can't understand why people so strongly hate Barry. What is the deal?

I don't like them bringing Barry back. Even after two decades, he's the ultimate example of a hero who actually doesn't come back to life (except for little guest appearances).

Now, it may still all pay off in the end, so I reserve any hate or acceptance of his return until the end. But so far, I'm not loving it.

Here's what I posted in the Flash thread:

I can't speak for everyone, and I've said this about 50 times now, but to me it's not just a case of 'I like so and so better'. I don't think Barry Allen should come back. I don't ask a whole lot of my comics, I really don't. I have a very small list of characters who I believe should not come back for varying reasons. The usuals are on the list, Uncle Ben, The Waynes, etc. On the top of the list, numero uno, was Barry Allen. There's a lot of reasoning for this, but I've went into this already in this thread and don't feel like doing it again. And, frankly, I don't know why Barry fans would want him to come back either, but once again, I don't want to get into that again

It's not about hating the character to me, I actually like Barry, but there really is zero reason to bring him back in my opinion. In fact, I think it diminishes his character to do so. I went into that pretty extensively earlier in that thread and it's just kind of something that's done and been discussed to death so I like to leave it at that

If you're referring to the whole f**k Barry Allen Anubis revolution, I do believe that's aimed more at his return as opposed to his character as well.

I do admit when I took a quick glance in the Flash thread and saw such comments, that did provoke me to ask my question here.

Yeah. I have no problem with Barry.

Just with him being brought back. But, like I said, it may all play out in a way I'm cool with. So I'm reserving final judgment and trying to enjoy the book for now. Although, I haven't really been enthusiastic about it yet.

Actually in the original COIE Barry didn't die. He achieved such inconceivable speed that he broke through dimensional barriers that nobody else had ever known existed and vanished into unknown aspects of existence.

Barry Allen was the superhero always with a smile on his face, saying stupid one liners calling them Flash Facts. If you see Barry in Final Crisis, Morrison writes him pretty dead on for what his characterisation is.

In Rebirth we have Barry Allan GRIMDARK where his parents were killed (or his dad framed for murdering his wife or whatever) a man who is doubting himself and his place on the Earth.

They've not only brought the character back who none of us thought should ever be alive but they've not even stayed true to the original character - in some hope to make him relevant to this world they've made him grimdark and brooding. Probably because they know no-one reading Rebirth ever read Barry Allen.

I've seen people reference the new Batman & Robin series as a 12 or 13-issue series. I remember reading that Morrison would be writing it for about that long, but is it known for a fact that the series will last only that long?

I was cleaning up today and came across some those old Lobo books from the 90's. I think this was, well... 'the most' (*almost*) Rated-R book on the comic book market back then. That brought thinking, why haven't I seen any Lobo books on the shelf since like... FOREVER! Has DC just cast this guy to wayside since then?

Lobo was in 52, but that's the last time I saw him.

He played a fairly big part in "Reign in Hell," which unfortunately sucked.

Not sure, but it's only one part of Morrison's Batman mega-story, and the last part probably involves Bruce coming back, so I doubt it'll run much longer in its current format than that.

Should Steve Trevor and Etta Candy be married at all? And I don't mean that in a "I'm a Diana/Steve shipper" or "My familiarity of Steve Trevor doesn't extend beyond the 70's TV show" way. I mean both Steve and Etta are officers in the US Air Force. Are there any circumstances that would allow those two to start a personal relationship in the first place?

It would only be a problem if they're in the same direct chain of command. Since Etta works for the Department of Meta-Human Affairs and Steve, I think, is retired, it's not a problem. Granted, Steve just took over as head of the DMA, but since that's a civilian organization, the same rules about chain of command may not apply.

Didn't he kill Linda Danvers is that? Why the hell would Lobo be in a magic book anyway?
Apparently he was trapped to fuel some kind of something power prison something. I dunno. Like I said, it sucked.

He didn't kill Linda, he killed Giovanni Zatara, Zatanna's father. Who was already dead, but now he's...deader. I dunno. Like I said, it sucked.

Linda is just stuck in hell I think, because according to Keith Giffen her true nature is evil and she deserves to be stuck there. I dunno. Like I said...

After reading 1000 and 1 Nights of Snowfall (Fables), is there a follow-up?

The story about how Snow and Rose Red find Frau Totenkinder, save her, then the three travel to the Mundy World only to lose Frau and get captured...then the story tells us "What happens to Snow White & Rose Red? That's a story for another day..."

Seriously, I can't find the follow-up story. Any details? What story follows afterwards? No actual spoilers, please.

So... Gotham's most famous celebrity is in prison and no one cares?

To be fair, Bruce Wayne is pretty much the only famous Gotham celebrity who isn't a dangerous psychotic who woke up one day and decided to devote his life to cartoonish supervillainy. So it might be a no big for them.
