Theres many similarities. Its bigger and better than its predecessor and one of the lead characters dies unexpectedly.

Well Jean was originally gunna survive (like the novelization), but then they changed it for the better.

And her being dead and Han Solo being Frozen and taken away by the Bounty hunter, sort the same...
