The Official Flash Thread - Part 2

Y'know, I forgot all the good stuff JG has done in the past. I hate his recent stuff. He could definitely bring this one home. All performances are up for personal taste, but at the end of the day, you can rate RDJ and Bale technically, and the peformance was still accessible enough to make millions (billions) of dollars. There's a difference between your mileage may vary and 'some guys didn't like it.'

Source Code?

Source Code?

I got halfway through it. It was too much for the people I was going with. I wanted to see how it turned out, but I wasn't too big on the character. But I'm kinda like that. I didn't enjoy XMFC very much either, despite the great story and action and character building.

Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't look a bit like Barry Allen, I must inform you all. I think you guys are just blinded by his talents. He IS a good actor, but unfortunately no Barry. The only reason they would hire him is because of his acting skills, nothing more (well, perhaps because of his stardom as well).

And Garret Hedlund is just the flavor of the month. After Tron has faded out of peoples' recent memories and Hedlund not gotten any other high profile roles, then he will be of no interest. I can assure you that.

I can give you an ACTUAL candidate for the role, if you wanna hear. Right now he's back in the limelight thanks to a handful of projects. But these haven't turned him into any flavor of the month status, which is a good thing. Nobody brings his name up in superhero casting threads. Who is he? It's the kid from Jurassic Park.

Star Kid?!?

Now that is a good pick! Very out of left field and very qualified, and, as a bonus, he does look like Barry. Good find Airwings.

Also, hiring an actor for skill over comic book character resemblance is a *very* good idea if you can't get both.

A great choice for Barry Allen would be Patrick J. Adams from the new USA Network series "Suits."

I think the idea of Flash being a shorter superhero is a great one. That's something I really loved about Darwyn Cooke's take on Barry in New Frontier.

I like that as well, but not to the point where everyone is towering over him.

Like Kyle Gallner (Impulse) on Smallville, who is the same height as JM. I couldn't buy him ever growing into the adult version of Flash.

Honestly, the actors height should even matter unless it's extreme It's stupid to write of someone because of something that doesnt have to do with his acting

Have you ever been able to convince anyone of that? I run into that a lot around here, and it doesn't really make ANY sense to me. I'm not sure why superheroes need to be taller than everyone else around them. I wanted to slap the editors who made Superman 6'5" or something ridiculous back in the 90s.

Mazzello will be great. The only thing standing in the way is that he looks too youthful. But the problem will be solved as there won't be a live action Flash for a couple of years.

The height thing? Use different camera angles and trick filming to make him look a little taller. Learn from Jackson's work on LOTR!

I'm lax on heights. Especially with the 6'0-6'1 Superman we have.

But I don't care for superheroes being uber short unless they're supposed to be. Then again, there's always those giant heels that RDJ wore.

Since when has that stopped them? They cast Michael Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne despite the fact that he didn't look anything like the character as drawn in the books. They cast hefty Pat Hingle to play the normally slender Jim Gordon in the 1989-1997 round of Batman films. They cast Hugh Jackman as Wolverine despite the fact that he's nearly a foot taller than the character while Cyclops was played by James Marsden, who's not as tall as Cycke is supposed to be. They cast Eric Bana as Bruce Banner despite the fact that Bana was too tall and bulky for the part. And Tobey Maguire and James Franco weren't exactly 100% accurate visual matches to Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Harry Osborne/Green Goblin #2.

And so on and so forth.

In the last run (get it?) of Johns' Flash series, Barry Allen was listed as 5'9 according to his ID

I think Gorilla Grodd should be the villain. Then again Flash's rogue gallery isn't that great. I love Captain Boomerang, but I would save him for a Suicide Squad appearance in a JLA movie.

And honestly, why would the suicide squad appear in a JLA movie? That's like trying to shoehorn the X-Force into an X-Men movie.

Didn't even notice that part among all the wrongness. I think Suicide Squad/Secret Six would be better in their own movie.

5 chances more than them fighting the Justice League. :oldrazz: They already got an Amanda Waller!
I didn't want them to fight the Justice League, just pull a mission that included stealing intel from them. Sort of like what the Timmverse did in JLU.

I would love a DC Animated Feature about the Suicide Squad, though. :woot:

But anyway this is the Flash thread, so back on topic:

So do you have a suggestion on who the Flash should face off? I was originally going to say Zoom, but he seems more of a Wally West villain than Barry.

There are two Zooms, one for Barry and one for Wally.

I want him to fight Captain Cold. The "cheesiness" can be removed simply by giving his costume an update. Cold is easily Flash's most interesting villain I think. Mirror Master and Weather Wizard could be interesting for a sequel. But Eobard and Grodd would be great too.
