what movie?? im pretty sure dragonball hasnt been released yet, as it's august 08 not april 09....but maybe the fact that chatwin is and ledger was an actor that they keep being compared, but then again maybe some people have unrealistic expectations of dragonball..

I can honestly say no one is expecting an academy award type performance, thats just downright ridiculous. People either think hes gonna suck, or like me think he's gonna do a good job, and have solid portrayal of goku. Nothing more.

I just still don't get much of a Goku vibe from him. The full of life, warrior spirited kid. In most of the pics, I just get a sense of boredom. Like he really doesn't want to do any of this. There is barely a pic of him where he isn't expressionless.

Well you have to factor in that in this adaptation, they kinda made Goku like an outcast, so i think that would cause him to not be so jolly.

But surely not to the point where he's become emo. Fox needs to get off the moody-stone-face look and do something different.

i wouldnt base it 100% off these pics. i truly feel that it needs to be seen in motion via trailer. can you really base true emotion off of these pics?

I think in promotional posters it would be a good thing to do to have your main character show some kind of emotion. Happiness, anger, sadness, something!

i think that the gi and his facial similarity to goku definitely helps

I think he's a good choice. I've seen the pictures and watched/read some interviews, and he seemed like he was geniunely dedicated to pulling off the best performance he could. Chatwin really does look like Goku, and I like that he's also put on a little muscle, but not a lot. He should look a little defined but not big in this movie, and as the franchise moves along, he gets bigger.
