First time ive noticed piccolo's eyes at the top of the poster

Awesome picture

I wonder what Chatwin is doing these days...We dont hear much from him

I was thinking it would be cool if there was a scene in the movie where Goku wets his hair and slicks it back or something and then within 30 secs his hair is all spikey again

The only thing i can say about Justin is I don't know if he'll be good or bad but i am at least giving him the chance to see what he can do with the character. There is no point saying he will not make a good Goku if nobody has seen footage of it yet. As they say there's no point of beating a dead horse! People have been bashing this guy as Goku and they have not even seen what he can do with the character and if he may not look exactly the same as Goku then as long as he has the spirit and the characters ways and flaws and compassion then i see him pulling it off.

People said Tobey Maguire as spiderman was going to fail and Downey Jr would never make a good Iron-Man but as I see it people were wrong and now all you know is Tobey is Spider-man.

I will see the film and just hope it's like the cartoon. I wish the actors luck for portraying complex characters and hope they do it justice and make it good for DragonBall Z the movie.

I agree with everything you just said Silver Lantern, except the Tobey thing, he was a very horrible Spidey. I thinki will give Chatwin a chance but I also think that the main actor from Never Back Down would have been the perfect Goku and the bad guy from that the perfect Vegeta. Thats just me, they arent the most amazing actors but they have talent and just need to be molded correctly. I think if they re-cast go for thos two guys.

thats right..we just got used to him(we had lots of time to do that since 2002-first spiderman movie)...

Leave Tobey alone!! lol
He did a good job.

also this thread is about Justin Chatwin/goku

Half of the character is script. Depending on whether or not Wong watched the original version or read the Manga depiction will vary. We're pretty screwed if this film is based on the dub.

Alvin and the Chipmunks were completely redesigned for the movie but it worked because they still acted like themselves. I withold judgement on Chatwin until we see a trailer.

Remember what ppl said about Heath Ledger when he was cast as the Joker, and look what we got. IMO the best performance of Mr. J since Mark Hamill

yet another person comparing an experienced, oscar nominated actor who starred in a sequel to a movie with oscar calibur production values to a novice actor who has played juvenile type roles with the exception of 1 or 2.

you cannot compare Heath Ledger to Justin Chatwin. even before TDK, Heath Ledger had shown that he's versatile and dynamic. Chatwin hasn't displayed those characteristics in his previous works. if you honestly think Chatwin's Goku will hold a candle to Ledger's Joker then you should probably go outside and get some air.

Aw c'mon just let them keep their hopes up in any way possible. I think they're just breaking it down to: There were doubts about Heath, and now there are doubts about Chatwin. It actually benefits Chatwin because this is his first chance to really shine and Heath has won Oscars, meaning people had as much doubt for an Oscar winner as they do for a guy that starred in 2 movies with the same type of character.. :woot:

My opinion is my opinion and no one will change that. yours is yours, and the same goes for you. Nobody has seen anything but pics of this flick so how bout we give the guy a chance. This could be his breakout movie, or it could bomb and f up his career, nobody knows for sure. Until I see something worthwile, I'm gonna say what I want and compare who I want and you can go outside and get some air with me and everyone else that has their own opinion on things. Oh and by the way, no Chatwin wont hold a candle to Ledgers Joker, cause they are two different actors playing two completly different roles, and what you dont understand dorky is that when I said people had doubts about Ledger playing such an iconic role, and Chatwin playing Goku, another Icon, it had nothing to do with how many previous works they've been in or how many oscars they've won, it was about people not giving them a chance at first sight.

WhY So SeRioUS?

And thanks for the backup Cartman :yay:

there WERE many people that doubted Heath Ledger, but it wasn't a majority like it is for Chatwin. more people felt indifferent to Ledger than those who doubted him. also, i totally agree that this is his big chance to make a lasting impression on Hollywood. i just don't think he's got it in him.

i gotcha...sorry for being so confrontational. i understand that many people haven't seen him act and want to give him a chance but this is not the first time i've seen Chatwin act. in fact, i've seen most of his work...so this is not my first time watching him. i don't need to give him a chance, because i already have a good idea of what he's capable of. playing Goku is over his head and the video StylishHokie posted is a good indication of that.

Good indication? He's surrounded by people who he probably can't understand, on top of the possibility of being in a hurry in the rain. Also the fact that this video is 20 seconds long. I see this as no indication of anything. The guy is probably also horrible at interviews, which has nothing to do with acting.

It's all good man, I know how it can get on these boards and I didnt mean to get confrontational either. I def. hear what your saying, I've seen him act too and it was nothing special. I do have a feeling that you're right tho and Goku may be way over his head. Goku has some pretty big shoes to fill

It has nothing to do with acting, but it's a good indication from the tone in his voice and his lack of confidence that he has no idea what type of character he's playing.

Then why the hell did professional casting directors cast some un-confident Canadian who can't act as they're lead in a potential blockbuster franchise? He's not popular to young people, so you have to throw that one away. What else is left other then him fitting the bill in their eyes.

This thread is back and fourth annoyingness!
