The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

You forget this isnt the anime or manga this is a DB movie so they can change things...plus Goku is 17-18 in this movie and isnt fully grown yet and saiyan`s hair stops growing when they are fully grown

Actually that's right about the time a Saiyan's hair stops growing, anywhere from the beginning of pubescence to mid-adolescence. Just like young men begin to grow beards. Some earlier than others, but it happens within a relative timetable.

They might not adhere to that detail of the original story, for which they wouldn't be very wise, but according to DB continuity, Goku's hair had fully grown out by age 18.

Long hair is a better, but at the same time I think they can pull it off with the shorter hair. We'll see.

How old was Goku at the beginning of DBZ?

Come on, it's unwise to not adhere to the 'Saiyan hair doesn't grow' detail? Isn't that going a little overboard on the 'must stick to established canon' mentality?

As far as I'm concerned, there is no going overboard. You're either adhering to continuity, or you're not, heh. One of the reasons Goku's character was so engaging and popular is that he never changed throughout the series. He got serious when it was time to quit fooling around, but he always stayed the same old Goku. And the same goes for his outward appearance.

You think he could care less about how his hair looks? There's no point in giving him a new hairstyle in the sequels. Bulma, absolutely, but not Goku. They should keep him in the same discombobulated mess of hair that he's always had(or at least what their reinvisioning is).

Well if they make more DB movies Goku will be a full fledge adult and maybe his hair will be its final length and maybe it will be a bit longer then it is in this movie

If you wanted to use that as an excuse to lengthen his hair and get it closer to the way it should've been in the first place, then I'd be for that, lol.

The fact that his hair doesn't grow out, though, is one more attribute that sets him apart from everyone else. We need as many of those as we can get.

True. There's a lot of traits that are exclusively Goku's and this is just one of them, and they need to do all they can to portray him properly. Otherwise, he'll just come off all wrong on screen.

i didnt know that... ouch that sucks...
sorta cant blame lord piccolo for wanting immortality:csad:

I'm pretty sure namekians live much longer than humans but their calender year is half the length of ours due to the revolution of their planet.

And Namekians age 2 years for every one.

...Really? I don’t remember that.

Saiyans live 200 years and over..

Saiyans can live for hundreds of years. Provided they don't die first. And seeing as they're a warbound species, they usually do, heh. There’s no real set lifespan, though. I don’t know where you heard 200.

It's strange that they never numerically addressed the Saiyan age-rate anywhere in the series. By the end of DBGT, Goku was well over 100, and technically he’d lived for over 150 years, after Pilaf wished for him to be de-aged into childhood, and even after all that time, he didn't look a day past 30.

But the Saiyan and Namekian age-rates have always been kept somewhat in mystery and left up to the interpretation of the reader/viewer.

and they look like 25 the entire time haha ;)
