Is 24 > 29 the new math?

Barry main Flash 1956-1985

Wally main Flash 1985-2009 (or less)

Most people hang on to Barry or Wally or Hal or Kyle because they grow up with one or the other, no other reason. I like the Golden Age versions best because they are the true originals.

Why any Barry Allen fans would dislike Wally is beyond me, as Wally is every bit a Silver Age character as Barry is. People having issues with Kyle I can understand more, as they took EVERY Green Lantern's name from them to make Kyle the sole GL, even Alan Scott. Which is just BS. But he's okay.

Barry was dead before I was even born and my first exposure to the Flash was in the Justice League cartoon which was Wally and my first exposure to the solo Flash comics was through Johns' run starring Wally. So yeah, Wally's my personal favorite. Though I have been enjoying Barry's return so far.

The only thing that has bothered me with Wally stepping to the side is that he quit the Titans and the Justice League due to Barry's return and wanting to learn more from him when he has nothing to learn from Barry. Wally is a more experienced speedster than Barry and is far more powerful than Barry. Right now I think that Wally would benefit from being on the Justice League with Dick and Donna to allow his character to be used and thrive.

So, wait, you wanted Wally forced on JLA, written by Robinson...?

I would say it is hard to say 100% that Wally is more powerful if you've read very few of Barry's stories. Of course this is DC, so I really doubt many of Barry's Silver or Bronze Age stories are canonical...or Hal Jordan's either.

I don't want Wally forced on the JLA. Characters who are forced onto a team tend to be written poorly. But I would have liked to see Wally fighting alongside Dick and Donna and would put an experienced Leaguer on the team as well.

Robinson really isn't the problem though. Sure Cry for Justice sucked but really, the only problem with Robinson's JLA is that the roster is so dull and boring.

And that is what kills it. There is nothing really all that wrong with the stories or the characterizations or the dialogs. Hell, I would even say that Robinson has given Red Tornado the potential to stop being a joke of a character. I think developing the Dick Grayson/Supergirl relationship has a lot of potential.

It's that it is just filled with characters that I don't give two ****s about. I really don't care for Jessie Quick, Jade, Congorilla, or alien Starman. And when half the team is filled with characters that I don't care about, that's where the problems lie.

Those characters can easily be replaced by more interesting characters who would have better interactions with Dick, Kara, Donna, and Vic and fill in the roles of Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, etc. without lame ass substitutions.

Wally is by far more powerful than Barry simply because right now, Wally has more experience with the Speed Force. Sure Barry was the one who created it and was powered by it, but he really didn't have an understanding of it.

Meanwhile you have Wally who is able to create costumes for the entire team using the Speed Force.

Also figured out a way to run with 2 broken legs using Speed Force doohickery.

I think thats a nice way to keep Wally prominent. Barry is back, he's THE Flash, but Wally is the best/most experienced speedster.

Wally learned much more about the speed force than Barry did so that makes sense

That'd be nice, but it'll never last. If everything centers on Barry, he will inevitably overtake Wally in terms of knowledge and power feats. I mean, technically, Max Mercury knew more about the Speed Force than Wally, but by virtue of Wally being the star of everything, he naturally overtook Max in SF knowledge eventually. Same will happen with Barry, I think. Johns already made Barry the living source of the Speed Force, so it's going that way as it is. Wally will just be "that dude who was the Flash for a little while until Barry came back" someday.

Well, ya know, go ahead and make rational, inarguable points. I'm not listening.

As he approaches the speed of light his "mass" increases indefinitely. Just something to consider. :cwink:

******** Wally fans don't worry too much, in a few years Johns will be a washed up old writer and some new writer who is on a 90's nostalgia kick will bring Wally and Kyle back. All this stuff goes in circles except that the originals get moved off to the side or killed forever. The Golden Age fans are all either old as hell or dead, and everyone else feels that history and tradition sucks.
