Exactly. If they were re-releases with a bunch of new special features, or even new cuts of the movies, that would be something worth mentioning.

Exactly. Getting a new release with just a different cover in order to cash in on a new movie is nothing.

SM-3 has been out for 7 years now. If we were going to get a director's cut I think we would have by now. Especially after two other Spider-Man movies have come out since then.
Sadly, I agree. Can't see it happening.

Which was a re-release of what we already had. I mean, they don't care to do anything new with it.
I see
I wish they'd at least put deleted scenes in DVDs, most movies did that

They have been upgrading each film to 4k, for what it's worth.

Love this shot of Venom. It's so quick, but it looks great. Reminds me of an Xenomorph from Alien. I love the growl he made here too.

I don't like the growl, that is the only thing I don't like about Venom in this movie

Venom's look was really well-done, in my opinion. I know some people have their gripes, but the character design gets a thumbs up from me!

I do have other gripes about how Venom was handled in Spider-Man 3 (aside from the obvious "the character was too rushed/didn't have enough screentime" complaint):

1. I wish the movie had played up on the fact that Spidey Senses don't work against Venom. It was always an awesome dynamic with Spidey vs. Venom battles, and it kind of stinks they didn't establish that in the movie.

2. Venom's voice. I wish they had taken a page from the 90's cartoon, honestly. The voice for the cartoon was perfect. There have been some impressive edits found on YouTube for Venom's voice. Would have been awesome to hear a voice like the edits in the actual movie.

You mean with exposition and long explaining?
They didn't do that, but two points showed he can't sense Venom:
MJ shouting: "Watch Out", and Venom saying: "My Spider-Sense is tingling, if you know what I mean"
And when Venom grabbed Spider-Man's head from behind and pulled him up, Peter couldn't sense him

As people who read the comics, it's easy for us to see when they're trying to establish that. Most people I know (the ones who don't know much at all about the comics) honestly thought it was a movie mistake/movie inconsistency during the part Spider-Man's head was grabbed by Venom. All the movie had to do was have Spidey say a quick line to himself where he exclaimed, "I can't sense him!"

I watched Spider-Man 2 and 3 on FX a few days ago with my boyfriend (who isn't a comic book fan, aside from The Walking Dead). In response to Venom, he asked "What happened to the spider sense?" I had to explain it to him, basically. He isn't the first person I've had to explain that to.

I think they established your first complaint with the fact that Venom came swinging in (literally :cwink: ) and he had no clue at all, until MJ said something.

I watches Spider-Man 1 the other day, finished it last night and started Spider-Man 2 immediately after.

These movies are awesome.

I've noticed that a lot of people (who don't read the comics) didn't get that though, and just thought the movie was being lazy and inconsistent about the spider senses. It would have been nice to have a more straightforward acknowledgement of the situation for the people who don't read comics (and these movies are supposed to be accessible to a wide range of people, even the ones who aren't comicbook readers).

This is why Ock's tentacles looked so good in SM-2, because they used real puppeteer tentacles as much as they could as opposed to all CGI.

Favorite Spider-Man moment in each movie (that is not a final swing):

Spider-Man: "How do I shot web"

Spider-Man 2: "I'm back, I'm back"

Spider-Man 3: "Where do all these guys come from?"

Spidermatrix53 should really see this if he hasn't, someone saying what he once said about this version of Peter being a dork, so it makes perfect sense for him to act as "cool and hip" as he did when he was possessed by the symbiote

That was the point, Peter is not a cool guy. So his concept of what "cool" is, would be to act like a *****ebag, because that's his frame of reference for the cool people acted.

Did I need to see Peter doing the Saturday Night Fever stuff? Was it something I really, really wanted to see in Spider-Man 3? No, but I don't hate it like so many others do. Obviously it wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Also, the joke worked for me because the movie took time to show so many women looking at him in disgust/horror. Like what others have said, Peter wouldn't know what being cool was if it bit him in the butt (based on how popular people have treated him in the past), so of course he'd act like that.

And, not gonna lie, I legit laugh every time Peter puts his feet on JJJ's desk. JJJ's expression/response to it is flawless. :funny:

I remember watching the special features on the Spider-Man 2 DVD. It was fascinating to watch the puppeteers work with the tentacles.

Anyway, Doc Ock is the best villain in the Spider-Man movies, easily (and one of my favorite comic book movie villains overall). Bow down. :otto:

I see that every time I sit through that scene, at least for this version of Peter it works perfectly

This last bit is extra fun to the funny dance scene

If you want to discuss Raimi's trilogy...this is the place.

If you want to discuss Webb's films....this is not the place.

If you want to spend your time comparing the two....go to Spidey World.

webhead731 and I were talking about scenes that were obviously inspired by the comic books in this trilogy. These are the ones we came up with:

- Goblin on the bridge with a kidnapped girl Peter loves

20kpvro.jpg

- Goblin flying on his glider with a captured Spidey attached wrapped in a cable/rope

fay4hf.jpg

Goblin impaled by his own glider after trying to sneak attack it on Spidey from behind

346kp4j.jpg

- Peter losing his powers because of stress and heartbreak

Powerloss1.jpg

Powerloss2.jpg

- Peter dumping his Spidey costume in the trash can and walking away

Spideynomore2.jpg

- Someone bringing the costume to Jonah after finding it in the trash

Spideynomore3.jpg

- Jameson hanging the Spidey costume on his office wall

Spideynomore4.jpg

To be continued....

Anyone think of any others?
