I'm sure that if Sony could go back in time with what they know now, they would've given their full support to Sam and Spidey 4,and just forgotten the reboot. But...they blew it. :whatever:

Yes, because in an interview Raimi said that while he was working on Spider-Man 4 he found out that the studio was developing a reboot behind his back. So once he found out he pretty much politely told them to go ***** themselves and he quit. That's when SM4 was officially cancelled and the reboot happened.

I remember reading this interview! And people wonder why Sony gets so much blame for their handling of the Spider-Man franchise in recent years.

Wow I didn't know that they where playing a reboot behind his back like that. Its crazy how a company that is so good with making great video games and tv ect can mess things up with spider man movies so much.

especially with the movies being the ONLY thing that is suppose to keep the company intact.

i also heard from a youtube user called B-mask and cheshire cats studio that the lizard design was one of the original concepts of the raimi films

He doesn't say he quit because they were planning a reboot; he says he couldn't get finish writing in time with the quality he desired. He does not say anything about the planned reboot being the specific cause of his departure.

Hell, in the Amazing Spider-Man special features they say Raimi gave them the idea... but considering who said it was in Sony's payroll, I'd take that lightly.

That doesn't surprise me. Raimi loves the Lee/Ditko era most, and the Lizard's design was obviously based off those early appearances, I don't think we would have gotten the form made popular by MacFarlene and Bagley.

sony could be lying to cover their asses.

there was also another concept art for spiderman 2 from raimi about the mcfarlane lizard only that he's extremely thin and is wearing pants. no lab coat just pants. while the lizard looks great i think him having muscles would've done more of the trick.

black cat was also suppose to appear in raimi's 2 and from the concept art i think i remember her being too thin.

also, i heard that defoe did like the original suit so he went with the power rangers version for some odd reason.yes, he couldn't get the freak show suit but he went for the power rangers reject.

is it true that raimi doesn't care for the 80s and 90s era or does he just want to focus on the 60s and 70s era because i heard he doesn't like the 80s and 90s era

I can't say for sure if he does not like those at all, I think he just likes the classic stories better.

it's actually "what" do you mean. but peter in the raimi films despite having some traits like morality, relatability and responsibility and being an underdog he still acts like a shy awkward nerd. i understand that raimi wanted to make him more human to sympathize with him but you can't do that to someone like peter parker. it's great that you kept his trait but you made him too much of a sweet heart and an emotionless one at that. just make him act like a regular guy.

Are you saying that he never grew out of his shell? Seeing him getting bullied in his junior year of college was a bit silly, but I have no problem with him being a nice guy for the whole trilogy. And that's definitely not all he was. He had plenty of emotions including guilt, trauma, shock, and frustration. The films didn't focus on his social side too much, another thing I love because they mainly focus on responsibility and Spider-Man.

the problem is if he doesn't grow out of his shell he's less of a person. one of the things that made peter more human is not just the power and responsilibilty but that he also shows that he's more human. there's nothing wrong with being a nice guy at all. i mean everyone is nice even having their own jerkish moments but i'm saying that maguire is just too nice. kinda like this is a very different parker. the social side is the more interesting part of the spiderman mythos because it just makes the relationship of every character peter comes in contact with more interesting and well quite a ride. the more i see of tobey's peter the more he just reminds me of one of those nerds you see in the movies.

though that doesn't mean i can ignore garfield's issue of not spendign much time with aunt may and the importance of uncle ben. including the lackl of consequences in the second film. there was something there in the first film but sony screwed it up for no reason in the second film.

i just hope they are listening to this.

Spider-knight, are you actually in here again bashing Raimi's Peter and making comparisons to the TASM Parker, too?

So... how about those Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies?

Spider-Man 2 will always be my favourite. It was the first movie I ever saw in theatres and for that reason, I love it so much!

i'm not. i'm just stating my problem's with his peter that's all. it doesn't mean i bashed him completely. besides i did name some great parts including defending kirsten and her mj. now is that something a hater would do?

alfred molina was incredible in his role. it's hard to find a doc ock like him. infact he keeps saying that he wants to return in the reboot and with goddard and doctor octavious and doctor octopus i say he get messed up at least without any interference from sony i suppose.

Fair enough. The sides you were looking for simply weren't shown that much. 2.1 kind of expanded on that. We see Peter actually getting mad at the Usher at MJ's play instead of just taking it. There's also the wrestling scene, where we got "No they got my name wrong" and "That's a cute outfit...". And it's not like Peter had time for friends...(:spidey:)
But IMO, the conflicts and small inner moments made up for it for me. I love when he puts his eyes down and sighs when JJ talks about Spidey, or the "I'm sorry" scene in SM1.

fair enough. i wish tobey showed some humor. infact reading the comics and looking about how long both franchises are i say spiderman works best as a tv series but that doesn't mean the movies can't be any good i mean there were some great things with both of raimi's films and the original cuts in webb's films.

i really do believe the characters should get expanded because if you notice something, not many of the character have any charactert like john jameson, betty brant, robbie robertson, the neighbor girl, flash thompson, george stacey and gwen stacey.

I've always wondered what a comic book set in the Raimiverse post SM3 would be like, if a bit unnecessary.

i read that mj was suppose to die in the 4th film whether if that news was true or not.
