Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Here are the trailers for the movie.

The ShoWest Teaser

Here's an interesting sizzle with behind the scenes footage.

The E3 trailer where you can even see webshooters.

Here's the abandoned Twin Towers teaser.

The Theatrical Trailer. Still a very cool trailer! Mostly because it knows how to tap into the kinetic energy of Raimi's direction.

Happy birthday to the single most important film in my entire life. Nothing will ever come close to this film in terms of the place it has in my heart due to the impact. I was 2 years old when it came out, and it's my earliest memory of seeing any movie in theaters. It's the reason I love this character and superheroes so much, but it's also the genesis of my love of movies in general.

May not be my favorite film of all time, but it will forever remain my go to "feel good movie" because no matter what I can't help but feel pure joy while watching it. :hrt:

Sharing this art I did for the 20th anniversary occasion, was there opening day 20 years ago and it really kicked my love of comics and drawing into higher gear. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is absolutely a feel-good movie for me as well, it's just so fun and infectiously optimistic. Shows why Spidey's the best!

Happy 20th anniversary to the Spider-Man movie. The Spider-Man Hype! Forums used to be my life when I was a kid in the early 2000s. The movie and the community meant so much to me. Logged in for the first time in a long while to post this. Don't know how many of you are still around. The world was a different place back then especially with regards to these superhero movies. Anyway, good night. :)

It's often hard for me to put into words just how and why Raimi's OG Spider-Man is such an emotional experience for me. There's a level of sincerity there, and a level honest and heartfelt passion in every frame. Raimi's love for Spider-Man shines through every single frame of the film, accompanied by beautiful cinematography and a breathtaking score too. My dad (RIP) took my brother and I to see the film, and I specifically remember being blown away by that end swing sequence. Once the film was over, he and I pretended to be Spider-Man and the Green Goblin in the theater haha. But once it was over, it also really changed my love and passion for things. I was so moved by the movie, and the fact that I was such an introverted kid, I felt like I could relate to what I was seeing on screen. It was to the point where Elfmans soundtrack was kind the soundtrack to my life, as corny as that may sound. I know people think we are living in the best era of CBM''s but I don't agree. We live in an era where expectations and fan service are what matters most, rather than an honest and heartfelt story from a passionate filmmaker. The days of Raimi and Nolan were peak CBM cinema for me, and while I do really enjoy the MCU and think some of the films and shows (specifically Wandavision) are truly great, nothing will ever hit me as hard as those films did. I also think todays audiences have lost sight of those things too, but it's not really their fault.

youtube critics saying "Sam Raimi brought his out of touch style to 2022" in regards to Doctor Strange, it really is alarming how much director driven Marvel films are apparently looked down upon by some.

Yeah, the color grading reminded me a lot of Spider-Man 2's in that scene.

Raimi is very good at visuals and horror, He just struggles with character elements. even in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. Which i liked BTW. But for example, the Illuminati was not very well handled. Even from the directing prospect. I mean people can say what you like about the Fox movies, but Prof X was so awkwardly directed in this movie. His first appearance in the MCU ever is so awkward.

Personally I'm glad he didn't make No Way Home. He has his strengths and his weaknesses. Which i think marvel managed to help him for this film. But the 3 spider-men needed someone who could adjust and not just say they didn't understand that character. Like he does with Venom. And I think if people took off their goggles they probably would see that too.

GuestStar, you said everyone who liked these movies only liked them because of nostalgia goggles in one of our many oh so tiresome arguments from a while ago in the NWH sub-forum.

No one on here will take you seriously on that alone nor choose to engage with you in conversation due to such an insulting notion. Plus, why are you posting on this thread given that you've always expressed a clear dislike of the Raimi Spider-Man films? Do you not know what this thread's purpose is for?

Well the subject came up of Multiverse of Madness. And i thought my post was fair.

When you tell people they only like something due to nostalgia, in a thread whose purpose is to celebrate said something, there is nothing fair about it. It's astonoshingly derogative to everyone in this thread.

Then again, I shouldn't have expected anything less from your character.

People really thought the announcement was going to be about Spider-Man 4, Spider-Man 3.1, an Extended Cut for Spider-Man 1 or a 20th Anniversary Blu-Ray, Theater Re-Release, etc. Those would've been too right for Sony to do.

Sony just continue to be scumbags:
-They removed the Deleted Scenes from the home release for No Way Home and they STILL haven't addressed it
-They did a new Blu-Ray Release for the Raimi Trilogy with OLD 2012 TRANSFERS instead the transfers from the 2017 releases.
-They took away the Spider-Man 3 Editor's Cut from the new releases and didn't replace it.
-They did a 4K Release of the Raimi Trilogy that was basically the same discs from the 2017 release.
-STILL no 4K version for Spider-Man 2.1 after all these years.
-They lied about Morbius
-They didn't do ANYTHING for Spider-Man 1 and 3's Anniversaries besides reupload a Spider-Man 3 Trailer, upload the first 10 Minutes of Spider-Man 1, and release the first movie's soundtrack on Vinyl.

Sony being Sony SMH.

Never expected that announcement to be anything significant. Keep in mind that this was coming from Sony's record label's Twitter account, so obviously it was going to be a re-release of the original movie's score.

Anyone who was honestly expecting a big announcement were setting themselves up for disappointment. I do agree that they mislead people with the NWH content though.

Won't lie, watching Doctor Strange fighting in New York with Sam Raimi direction made me feel a way. Kinda want that Spider-Man... man.
Me too! That entire sequence felt like something out of the Spider-Man trilogy and you just know i was grinning from ear to ear.

Mild spoiler
That part where Gargantos is scaling the building and an office worker reacts to him outside the window gave me a Spider-Man 2 flashback to when Doc Ock did it. Aha.
oh man I was like "hell yeah" at that scene. I feel like it's a lot of those things that make MoM so much fun to me. As much as I really really enjoyed No Way Home, I found MoM to be more fun and a lot of that is due to Raimi.

I genuinely thought she was gonna yell too, but they cut away immediately after. :hehe:

I disagree with everything you just said haha, respectively of course. Also, as fun as No Way Home is, the movie lacks style in almost every way including an incredibly flat color pallete. Raimi would've have given us much more memorable action scenes, even though I dug the hallway fight and the end fight with all the Spideys, along with an overall better film. Nobody has understood Spider-Man as well as Raimi has, if you ask me.

There are some cool moves in the NWH Spidey and Goblin fight, some nice action beats, but that scene just like the whole film is shot in such a miserably pedestrian way. Watts can get nice enough performances out of his actors but has to be one of the least interesting directors the MCU have had. Glad he dropped out of Fantastic Four tbh.

So, you decided to talk about how deficient Raimi is as a director in a thread literally titled "The I Loved Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Thread?" You could have taken that point to a NWH thread easily, since you are mainly talking about what if he directed No Way Home. That would have been on topic. In here, that is borderline trolling.

Read the thread titles, amigo
