Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Someone on here reached out to Bob Murawski (editor of the trilogy) awhile back and asked about him about it and he responded by essentially saying he doesn't think a directors cut will happen because he doesn't believe that Sam is interested and that whatever was cut was pretty much cut for a reason.

Now a longer cut does (or did) exist. The actor that played Penny's doctor said that the reason his character was cut was because Sam called him and told him the film was running over 3 hours long and had to be chopped down.

Now I'd love to see an extended version or at the least deleted scenes, but since the director himself doesn't seen interested I'm not too passionate about campaigning for it.
That was me. He said he doubt Sony would ever want to do another Extended Version and that Raimi probably wouldn't authorize it anyway. That message was from early 2018. Now, Raimi is making another Marvel movie, Tobey came back for a film that ended up grossing almost $1.9 Billion. Spider-Man 1 and 3 turns 20 and 15 years a day apart. Spider-Man as a character turns 60 this year. It would be stupid not to capitalize on that.

I'm all for extra deleted scenes from any of these Raimi films. I doubt any additional cuts will be made at this point, but unearthing footage is always fun and easy fodder for the various anniversaries. Sony are pretty much the only studio still bothering with home releases so there's a chance they'll put something together.

With Tobey and Kirsten also up for it, it's good to hear, but I still don't think it's ever going to happen unfortunately.

Heck, TASM 3 has a better chance of materializing than this and even that's unlikely.

Honestly as popular as Garfield is, he's about the only thing from the Amazing series that people liked (other than Gwen who died). Of the two, I'd guess Raimi's universe would be slightly more likely for a reunion. I don't really see it happening though. Seeing how the MCU has absorbed characters already, it would seem like they'd probably do that again in some way, boosting the series that is still going rather than digging up an old one.

I'd be worried about Rothman overseeing a Raimi SM film, but they have ambition to grow their "Spider-Verse," combined with NWH's giant success and the trend of bringing back beloved franchises, and if Rothman isn't too much of a cheapskate and can meet Tobey's fee, I still think it's possible.

He won't have this guy having his back

There's not a single comic book movie in the next few years I'd be more excited for than a possible Raimi S-M4 if it happens. I have no idea if it'll actually end up happening or what, but I've learned over the last few years that really anything is possible and I truly hope it happens.

He knows something we don’t.

Let’s go!

I don't want to jump to conclusions just yet, but I do get the sense that Sam MAY know something could happen.

Hmmm, I'm not hopeful for anything just yet. Just because he, Tobey and Kirsten are definitely open to coming back, it doesn't mean it'll happen. We have to take into account the next MCU Spider-Man films here.

I think it's possible, but Tom Rothman is an issue here. While his mid budgeted films like Ghostbusters and Spider-Verse are smart ways to spend, he is historically a cheapskate and terrible creative decision maker who I worry won't give Raimi the support he needs.

Far from confirmed, but this does come in the wake of Feige teasing all sorts of projects from Marvel in the future, unique things, including "existing characters, and new characters... and the multiverse."

I feel like the only way Tobey's Spider-Man could come back would be in the inevitable Secret Wars movie, or maybe Sony eventually trying to rope him into their cinematic universe given how Andrew Garfield's stated that he wanted to take a break from acting. Latter option would not be preferable.

I don't see Raimi working with Sony again unless he's given a very fair amount of creative control.

The stars are close to aligning it feels like, all the integral players are in the fold and expressing interest and NWH's BO should encourage Sony to do anything... like El Muerto!

Didn't Raimi say recently he would love to do another Spidey with Tobey and Kirsten?

Yes he did

Im trying to not get too hyped, but it's clear the MCU has a multiverse oriented future, confirmed by feige himself, and with Sam back doing stuff with Marvel and all the OG cast on board, it seems like now is the perfect time to make it happen. Whether it ends up happening is anybodys guess, but I have my fingers crossed. Heck, even Danny elfman is back composing a Sam Raimi comic book film.
