The Dark Knight Rises The Official Jim Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

He's not been my favorite, but you can't say he isn't likeable.

He's been my favorite good guy thus far.

Gordon is one of my favourites too, probably my favourite good guy.

Just watched Leon The Professional again. Man, I really hope Gary gets his due this time come awards season.

If Gary wins the Best Actor award, Natalie will be presenting the award to him. Full circle! :D

I can just see it now...

Gary Oldman: "I would like to thank everyone who made this possible.

EEEEEEVERYYYYYYOOOOOOONNNNE!!!!!"

That's adorable, until you remember the context of their relationship in the movie.

Leon, such a brilliant movie. One of my all time favorites.

That pic really is weird considering their characters. :D

It's in my top three too, together with Heat & True Romance.

I'd love to meet Gary!

OMG, totes mind-blown at the thought of Natalie presenting Gary with an Oscar!!!

Anyway, can I just say how much I love love LOVE this thread - all the contributions, ideas, guesses and discussions are so valid!!!

As you can see by my username, Gordo is my fave character, and :hrt: Gary Oldman :fhm: is my favourite actor of all time. Barr none. I've met many A-listers, but I had the unspeakable pleasure of meeting him at BAFTA nearly 2 weeks ago and nothing will ever top it. Ever.

...We'll, unless I meet him again!!! :woot:

Defo gonna get my ass back in gear and contribute to this forum, and particularly this thread. Can't wait to interact with you legit know-what-you're-talking-about fans

In the meantime, I run a Tumblr fellow Gordo fans might like; http://commissionerjimgordon.tumblr.com/ :cwink:

That Holiday Knights episode of the Batman Animated show was fun stuff. I've never read the comic it was based on, though.

Thanks Arya! :woot:

So why do you guys reckon Gordon is in hospital in the trailer? Do ye think it might have to do with the bomb that Gordon and the GCPD try to disarm?

Also, not that I want it to happen, I agree that his wife will probably have left him in this one. However, I think they'll be reunited in the hospital should Gordon end up there near the end of the film. I think Jim being actually injured might make Barbara realise that nothing's worse than being without him.

I don't expect the trilogy to end all 'happily ever after' but I do think Gordon should have an ending that involves happiness at home. After all, Batman/Bruce fought to save Gordon's family at the end of TDK, and that would be redunant if they took the family away from Gordon at the end of TDKR.

Gordon and Batman is my fave bromance in comicbook history, but the men share enough of a bond without having them both without a family.

I'll be :cmad: if they don't give Gordon an ending that keeps his family intact. He's enough stress with his job. Dent was saving Gotham without a mask, but Gordon's doing it without much credit.

Gordon and Batman will always be my OTP in the Batman universe! :hrt: :awesome:

Ohhh snap! And I do love me some of the rare Gordon/Bruce interaction... I think we'll be reminded that he comforted Bruce when his parents were killed in TDKR.

^ I wonder if Gordon remembered that when he was talking with Bruce at the Lambo crash scene in TDK...

I immediately thought of that when I was watching it the first time. There's a hint of a smile in Gordon's face, a sort of affection, when he asks "you don't watch a whole lot of news, do you Mr. Wayne?" He doesn't treat or label Bruce as a mindless playboy, which makes me think part of Gordon will always see him as that lonely orphaned child sitting shivering in the chair at the GCPD.
