they can make brando say almost anything.. soo why change him out now?

Brando IS Jor EL and may he R.I.P

brilliant! i love Cox!!!

that didn't sound right...hehe. but no, seriously, i think he'd be awesome as Jor-El.

you have to keep Brando, end of story

i love when people use 'end of story' as if they have some kind of power to stop a topic or argument.

they don't HAVE to keep Brando...they don't HAVE to do anything, but i think it'd be a better move if Singer started seperating HIS Superman from Donners. one way to do that is to get a different actor to play, Jor-El.

I'm sick of old Man Jor-El. Next time... next reboot, I guess, I'd like to see a Jor-El who looks more like his son, in age and appearance.

I would have actually cast Johnny Depp if they'd done a reboot this time around. And he would have been a very different Jor-El indeed.

It's too late to re-cast within this series now though, especially with anyone too unlike Brando's version.

Exactly! Why the hell is Superman's father ALWAYS an old geezer in these films?! When in the comics his pops is always young and cool. Jor-El in appearance should LOOK a lot like Superman! Not a clean shaven Santa Claus.

And Apparently so are the movies...

Im with you all the way, Jor-El needs to be the same age as Superman at the time of his death.

if this were a restart, i would've like to have seen a younger Jor-El, but considering that we're stuck with a semi-sequel to the Donner movies (Routh resembles Reeve, Spacey resembles Hackman, same Fortress, same looking ship, etc...), for the sake of consistancy, i would like to see an elder Jor-El for the next movie....be it Cox, CGI Brando, or another fitting actor.

as long as he ain't TOO old...

edit: did a quick manip...

First, this is all assuming that Jor-El will be making another appearance to begin with. I was under the impression that when the crystals were removed from the Fortress his essence went with them. His spirit was supposed to have been “embedded” in them, right?
That may not be the case, but that was the impression I got.

They can make him look like he's saying almost anything, but they only have a limited amount of dialouge to work with. Even if they used the same technique from the last film, if they want him to speak anything new, they'll either have to purchase the rights to whatever recorded dialouge exists out there to do what they need (which at this point may actually belong to Brando’s estate) or they’ll need to hire a voice actor too fill in.

I definitely agree that resurrecting Brando was another mistake in the very long list of ones that stemmed from the choice to make a sequel to a 20 year old movie.

And yes, if he makes a return, Cox is an excellent suggestion.

You're exactly right. The voices of the past are completely lost and closed to Superman now.

How about Ian McKellen? I think they should have the guy who plays Sylar on Heroes, he looks like Routh. Maybe have a flashback to the old days when Jor-El wasn't starting a family in his sixties.

jor-el is god and superman is jesus.

Elaborate for me. Are you saying he literally is or can be compared to... etc.

i highly doubt jor-el will be making any appearances in future sequels.

compared to that is why he in older and has white hair, he was ment to like god, sending his son to earth to save mankind.

It wasn't because his planet was about to go boom?

No one thinks Ian McKellen could do it? Heck, why not Terence Stamp, he does the voice on SV.

Ian McKellen - already Magneto, too old
Terence Stamp - you DO know he was Zod, right?

Yeah. He won't be Zod in a sequel, unless they make kryptonians age.
