The Official Lanterns News & Discussion Thread

Isn't Hal like one of the greatest GL's of all time? That could be an argument for why earthlings keep getting picked, because Hal proved how good an earthling could be in the role.
Hal slept with an alien girl who used her ring to make herself into a bombshell. I don't know about this claim he's the best. :o

It will be interesting to see how they do the show. At first you think with the show runners and HBO brand behind it, you might think we get little power ring action. Especially with Gunn saying this will be a True Detective type of murder mystery. But then you realize this is a DCU show with Superheroes already in the world. I would think we will get plenty of power ring action although the show might be just earth based. Can’t wait to they start filming.

It appears that Supergirl, The Batman 2, and Lanterns will all be filming at the same time early next year. DC might actually have some footage to bring to comic con next year.

New rumor... I'm hoping maybe Kyle Chandler as Hal shows up. Who knows, though haha.

It'll be Peacemaker making a joke about Green Lantern like he did with Superman, Batman, and Aquaman in the first season.

"Did you know that Green Lantern secretly loves My Little Pony?"

That probably is the most logical theory for a GL reference hahaha.

Wasn’t Corenswet in the mix for that character too?

It seems I might need a full list of all actors who auditioned for Warlock. Might indicate future DCU casting.

James Gunn did discuss Lanterns at NYCC briefly, here's some short notes:

-He wanted to work with Aaron Pierre in the past, he was almost Adam Warlock.

-Gunn seeing Kyle Chandler & Aaron Pierre saying lines together was fantastic, didn't care what they were talking about. (Implying great chemistry.)

-Lanterns has been a very easy, natural process. It's a very grounded series, which Gunn admits is weird to say for a Green Lantern show, and it's like nothing anyone has seen before.

Listening to Gunn talking about Laterns it sounds like they will really show a relationship with Hal (veteran) and John (rookie) working a mystery like detective show/movie (Seven perhaps with Pitt/Freeman). This won’t be everybody’s cup of tea. Interesting to see how they pull it off.

Nothing they do will be everyone's cup of tea. That's the last thing they should worry about.

I think the majority want power ring and space action. Be careful because we saw what happened to another DC duo who went away from what the fans want.

There is no "majority" when discussing Green Lantern. The majority of the audience doesn't currently care. This show's job (as with any new show) is to make them care.

I think Power Ring slinging is much more important than Space travel, I'd obviously like to have both but I'm not worried about either. There's no reason not to expect more Lanterns in the future.

Power ring singing would be a hoot. That might actually work.
