The Official Lanterns News & Discussion Thread

I think the majority want power ring and space action. Be careful because we saw what happened to another DC duo who went away from what the fans want.

I think audiences ultimately want a good, captivating story with rich characters. The action willl be what it is, but that shouldn't be the staying power of this project. It's also just not the artists job to give fans what they want. It's an impossible task.

I wonder if we will hear the oath. It can be corny sometimes. But just listening to Hal saying “Fear my power, green lantern’s light” give me chills. So looking forward to this show.

When I say they shouldn't prioritize giving fans what they want, I don't mean they should just disregard the lore. And I highly doubt they will. Lindelof is a big fan himself.

Oath? Yay or nay?

I can't find any crums of Lindelof (prior to being involved with Lanterns) talking about Green Lantern. He was repping a classic GL shirt at CC in the mid 2000s (promoting LOST) and also the Green Lantern/Flash comic that was on the Island in Lost that belonged to Walt. I'm just curious who his favorite GL is lol!

Question for the Latern comics fans. How powerful are the rings exactly?

I can't tell you how much I would love for them to do a Christmas special (animated most likely) of the Larfleeze Christmas Special by Geoff Johns. I know Gunn did a Guardians one, which was fun.

Also, the Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special would be hilarious. I still watch that fan film time to time.

I don't see us seeing other Lanterns until maybe they hit the big screen with probably a different set of writers and vision. Maybe I'm wrong though.

So the love interest rumors for Hal and John are true with the casting of Kelly McDonald and Poorna. Lanterns will be interesting to say the least. Power Rings in a rural heart of America town uncovering an ancient evil. An original idea that might work.

We love Dillion don’t we folks

Supporting cast kind of takes me back to the Watchmen casting stage. You go in expecting Doctor Manhattan and Nite Owl and come away asking “who the hell are Angela Abar and Judd Crawford??”

And you see people acting insane over it too. A woman was cast and now the creators all of a sudden don't care about GL since she's not playing Carol Ferris.

I'm just hoping Carol's not dead lol.

Kind of thinking they may do Hal & Carol like they did Han & Leia in the sequels tbh... bummer if it happens (for me lol.)

I don’t find Hal and Carol to be a particularly great couple so I could take or leave them being together. I do hope Carol shows up at some point though.
