Yeah, he really was. Too bad the rest of the movie was so bad. That would have been one of the best evil psychopath characters of all time had the movie been better.

Yeah, it was a terrible film :hehe:

But he was awesome. That scene where he pretended to be the nurse was immense. Makes me think it had a little bit to do with Joker's nurse scene in TDK :D

LOL, now I'm imagining RDJ as the Joker. That actually could have worked too (though I'm glad we got Heath).

It's amazing how many actors out there ended up playing one superhero/villain but could have easily played another one just as well.

And then you have the guys like Nicolas Cage who attempted to play every single one at some point or another but are wrong for ALL of them. :)

Never though about RDJ as Joker, that would have been amazing Cause he is a very versatile actor, and it's a shame people seem to have this one-sided view since IM. But his wise guy, a-hole routine would have been great for the Joker :awesome:

My biggest peeve is Michael Fassbender. He was a great Magneto, but I think he would have made an even better Lex. Would have made a good Batman too.

Nic Cage. Cant live with him, cant kill him :lmao:

You might be right, though I still have trouble seeing Fass as Bats or Lex. Maybe it's just because he looks and acts EXACTLY how I pictured Magneto in the comics (other than the white hair).

LOL, Cage. I'm beginning to wonder if he's just taking roles to make fun of himself at this point.

Fassbender would have worked as so many comic characters, but Marvel/Fox got him with Magento.. and he's a great Magneto.

I'm looking forward to his much larger role in the sequel as promised.

Cage wants to be seen as a hero to all...But ends up looking like an idiot lol

Fassbender could have been the first Lex in a movie where none us would have laughed and rolled our eyes.

Just imagine if Cage had gotten his way and managed to play Superman, the Green Goblin AND Ghost Rider.

And a few years down the road, landed the roles of Thor, Bruce Banner, the Flash, Galactus, Magnus: Robot Fighter, He-Man, the Phantom Stranger, Deadman, Spider-Man 2099, Medieval Spawn, Shredder, Rodimus Prime, Bullitt, Shaft, Jack Ryan, John Conner, Zorro and Gilgamesh.

Seriously, just IMAGINE Cage in those roles. :D

All that being said, he WAS awesome as Big Daddy. But that's because he was playing a character that really suits him: a batsh** crazy superhero enthusiast.

Nic Cage would be hilariously awesome. :super:

I don't know what it is about Nic Cage :hehe:

How can any one actor be so ridiculously awful in SO MANY roles and yet actually have a few decent films under his belt, proving he CAN act...

Does he just CHOOSE to act badly? Because he thinks that's why people watch his movies?

He's a great actor, no doubt. But you're right, he picks terrible scripts.

I personally think he has a bit of a complex. He spent so much money on crap and wanted to play hero roles...he needs to feel gooood inside :hehe:

I want to see a film starring Cage, Walken, and Shatner.

He was awesome as that psycho from In Dreams

Also in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang".

I agree with Fassbender as Lex as well. Can't picture him bald, but I can definitely see that level of intensity playing well off this Superman. I suppose he'd be my pick for a Lex who was more of Superman's contemporary.

For an older Lex I'd be very happy with Jason Isaacs. Both have a vitality and menace that Hackman (purposefully) and Spacey (also purposefully, as he was playing the same iteration) never possessed as Lex for a second, not even with Spacey screaming "WRRROOOONG!!!" like a crazy person.

Spacy could have done alot better if there was a better script. Its not his fault he was told too look to Hackman. With Nolan and Goyer, the would have him read the comics and look to that, and he could pull it off. Plus with Goyer doing this script, thats another plus. He dosnt have the look I dont think, they can find somebody else, but if Spacy had been given better material he would have done a much better job

Lately I've been thinking we won't get Lex at all, that they may have looked at early considerations for Lex but if it is for a sequel, they could take their time looking. They should take their time because it's a hard role- an intelligent actor who is also menacing, suave and also have some physical prowess (it would be good to see a Lex who lifts weights like we see in such versions as All-Star Superman)

I want to see a badass Lex who would beat the crap out of a normal man but needs his Kryptonite suit to fight Superman

Basically Bruce Wayne with an evil eye.

Christopher Meloni as "Colonel Hardy" thing is so much like the Miranda Tate/ Talia Al Ghul stuff going on with TDKR right now. I think he would be perfect for the role, he is probably the best guy that it could be. He could act and look and be a very convincing Lex Luther. If it turns out true, I would expected its some plot twist at the end of the third act of the movie leading into MOS2.
He honestly might not be though. Sadly unlike TDKR we have no leaked set picks or anything that practically give it away. No little boys saying there playing a young Lex lol. It really depends whether or not there planning on this being a standalone film or if they do plan at least 1 sequel.

The only pictures of Meloni on set have him with hair and in military attire with tattoos showing. It's definitely not a haircut that could be a wig either.

I really don't think he's Lex. It would be so stupid.

It wouldnt be stupid if it was cleverly written and executed. I wouldnt mind the surprise twist, but it would have to be done in the right way.

And I wouldnt mind a less charming / less sophisticated Lex in exchange for a more physical / combatant and imposing Lex. Meloni would definitely fit that bill then.

But no, he's probably just a very driven colonel, who may or may not turn into Metallo, Parasite or Manheim down the line.

Personally, I don't think Lex is the kind of character that you reveal towards the end of a movie in a 'twist'.

Lex Luthor is Lex Luthor. He wouldn't pretend to be anyone else. He wouldn't walk around saying his name was Colonel Maloni and then reveal Lex as his true identity. He has more pride in his name than that, in his identity and the respect and intimidation he wants it to conjour.
