I like Billy Zane though :csad: he's cool, and (I think) quite charismatic. If they go for CEO Lex, he needs some charisma.

How about Nicolas Cage for Lex luthor?

No thanks. Though given his obsession with Superman, I'm sure Cage would love to play any role in a MOS sequel.

I can't help but hope that Lex will be portrayed ambiguously - and his motivations will be understandable and even laudable.
The presence of Superman redners humanity obsolete, his intentions are noble, but Clark is a living reminder of our limitations and weakness.
Is it wrong that Luthor should want to destroy this alien and restore the pride of his species?

I've never seen him as a villain, and I hope they take the character as far away from the crooked real estate guy as possible.

Great post, and I can only hope they'll take this approach to Luthor, if he does make an appearance in the films

Jason Clarke.

Known for Zero Dark thirty and will be a larger name by the time Man of Steel 2 comes around due to his starring role in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

He has a very refined, but rough edge to him.

Perfect for a character who is a cold murderous brute hiding beneath a charismatic and brilliant billionaire.

despite Iron Man 3.....I still say Guy Pearce lol, and look.....now he's not a Marvel guy :p

We don't need their sloppy seconds, especially when we have great talent to choose from, such as Damian Lewis, Matthew McConaughey, Jason Clarke, Dicaprio and Matt Damon.

I can think of only two people who can play the best Lex Luthor ever in a movie:

Because they are great actors!

Billy Zane

Simply because his voice & his look when he is bald reminds me of this Luthor.. for some reason:

:applaud That's my Luthor.

He's a good actor as well, plays the conniving villian very good as well.

I don't like it when people only suggest bald actors, however Billy Zane is my exception to the rule.

I wonder if he's even going to be bald. Maybe they're going to go the red hair/beard look. Or what if he's not physically in the movie but is referred to throughout? Maybe he's not even cast yet. You would think a role like Luthor would be something announced to gain hype...
I would like if he was referred to like The Emperor in Star Wars. Then they can cast someone for the next movie JL or MOS2.

While I have no idea what villain he'd be, Nic Cage definitely needs to play a Supes villain.

The TAS Luthor looks more like Vin Diesel to me.

HEY! THAT'S A GREAT IDEA! AND HE'S A BIG NAME ACTOR TOO WHO RAKES IN THE BIG BUCKS WITH HIS CAR CHASE MOVIES! VIN DIESEL FOR LUTHOR!

Just kidding.

I take solace in the fact that fanboys are not in charge of casting, that Zane has a zero percent chance of playing Luthor in a live action film.
