haha mr earle very funny. As for zane yea he has a great look for lex and i said it before i wouldnt mind him myself. Though i agree he hasnt been in alot of good stuff in the last few yrs so i dont know how bankable he would be for the film. But with the right script and direction he could probably nail lex. As for spacey yea i agree he could have probably been a decent corp lex and its a shame we didnt get to see that.

Here's Leo bald (though he still has the goatee):

**** you Superman! Where were you when the Titanic sank?

Holy ****! :wow::woot:

Yup, that would work. I wonder if Leo is up to shaving his head.

I was actually reading something about the SAG rules on shaving heads. It said you had to pay actors more because making them shave their heads could jeopardize future roles.

But it's Leo DiCaprio. With his luck, he'll create a bald fetish for women.

yea i dont see how it could be that bad of a deal. really guy would be shaved for like 3-5 month period, and then if he is doing another film right off the bat after finishing superman he could always don a wig. Perferably it would be nice for actor to actually shave their head cause it does look better then bald caps some times.

Joaquin Phoenix would be epic as Lex, plus coming out of his "weirdo" stage and playing Lex would add some good publicity to the film. He would do things we haven't seen with Lex before.

yea he is a solid actor and i hope he does pick the right projects now coming off that weirdo phase he was in.

Depending on their characterization of Lex, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better actor to pull off the maniacal, slightly mad scientist-y version of Lex than Joaquin.

Well since it seems he may be out of a job,Im still rooting for Daniel Craig.

i just hope we get to see the corp lex finally grace the big screen.

Actually Lois is a material witness, and he did do something which did damage to Metropolis. Superman was brought in to the hospital with a stab wound and they pulled out the Kryptonite out of the wound, which is irrefutable evidence. Everyone saw Superman lifting that big land mass that Lex Luthor created, which caused the damage. His boat, with a russion missle launcher bolted to it, is at the bottom of the sea (and mini sub can go down there and photogrpaph it. Lois sent the co-ordinates of where the ship is so they know where to look. And again, Lois, Richard, and her son are material witnesses. Lex spelled out exactly what he was going to do, even had a map of it, so Luthor would be arrested first time he shows up in public. There is too much evidence and witness to put him in jail and to get a conviction. He would go to federal prison. The reason Lex is able to be a corporate magnate in the comics is that he already was rich and hired goons to do his work that could not be traced back to him. But in SR, Lex had direct connection to the events he caused, with witness. So it would be very stupid to make him president of the US, or of a company.

There's a case there, I'm sure, but none of it is "irrefutable." The only thing pointing ANY of it to Luthor is Lois' testimony. If they do spend the (what, millions?) to sub to the bottom of the sea in the arctic and find the ship AND go inside and see the map, and all that, it's still circumstantial.

Richard has no useful testimony, and it'd be best to keep Jason's testimony out of it, for his own good. "...and then I hit him with a piano."

I get more off the Lex vibe from Zane.

Nobody questions his look would work. The only thing is, for many people he is a very bland actor lacking on screen presence. However that may be up to the scope of the film and most definitely the moments the director CAN get out of him, and ultimately edit the best performances possible. If the director is great and the film is edited great, then Zane could very well be a good Luthor. It is simply a gamble on his bland acting :o

I agree. Zane is mentioned because he does bald, but he's far from the most qualified. Have you ever seen him doing anything and been 'Wow! That was intense!'

Me neither.

DiCaprio could be awesome, and is a great age (35) to rival a new man of steel. I'd rather see someone even more mature though. I want to believe that they are really entrenched in the city, and I think that takes someone 40+

i disagree GL1 that they mention Zane because he is bald. thats for John MClane.

a lot of fans see in Zane LL fro mthe cartoon.

DiCaprio doesnt feel mature to me for a role like Lex. Thats what I couldn't put my finger on. He seems too much like a boy for the role.

Zane...I wouldn't say he is the best of actors, no. But he has a strong Luthor like presence and thats important.

yea i said it before i am not totally against zane, he could do a good lex with the right script and director and the supporting cast he works with. But i think their is some better choices to go with over him. But i would leave him in for a secondary/3rd choice.

Well, I guess my question is what can I watch to give me an opportunity to see what others see in him? I saw the Phantom, but wasn't utterly impressed. I don't have to go watch Titanic do I?

Zane was pretty chilling in Dead Calm.

I'm not going out and claiming he is the best actor, but he would make a pretty decent, not to mention different Lex as opposed to Hackman,Spacey,Shea and Rosenbaum.

I wouldn't have minded him as Lex in SR, but i'm past that now. I want an ultra big name for the role.

^ nice...
jason isaacs maybe? While not a mega star, he's a damn fine actor.

So, yeah, you can officially throw Titus Welliver's name on my list of Luthor choices. Welliver is the Man in black on Lost(yes, I'm referencing Lost again). The guy has the look and presence for the role. And, this is the kind of guy you could lock up for multiple films.

Welliver, fellow Lostie Michael Emerson, Michael C. Hall, Jason Isaacs, and Jaquin phoenix(provided he gets his act together and doesn't die mounted on a toilet seat). These are my top choices.
