Why not? He would be a surprise to many people, since, I believe, he is still somewhat unknown to the general public, but so was Brandon Routh. You never know. That's why I like being surprised by cast announcements, because sometimes we, the fans, are looking to a certain direction and then you read about someone who wouldn't even cross our minds.

He looks suave and self assured in this interview. Although the presenter is cheesy and the interview has nothing to do with Superman, Goss still has a presence and indeed, this certain creepiness. Maybe it's the eyes or the smile, both very villainy. We need a Superman that has the opposite: Kind eyes and warm smile.

You're saying "No thank you" because he's able to drastically alter his appearance for a role? You do know that right after the picture you posted, JAK parodied posters who rule out contenders for Luthor due to them having too much hair.

I always think watching videos of them performing is a better indicator than looking at pictures of them. Look up on Youtube Michael Shannon's big scene in Revolutionary Road. It's weird - though they were filmed at roughly the same time, his performance, right down to his voice and mannerisms, really reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker.

While you're watching, also check out Leonardo DiCaprio's powderkeg of a performance. I wouldn't mind him playing Luthor either.

Shannon is pretty awesome, but if Brainiac is to be in the film then I prefer him for that role. Nevertheless, I would accept gim as Lex in a heartbeat.

Can ANYONE point out where I said I had a problem with his hair?

You all jumped on his hair being the reason I said no thanks.

FYI I find it really annoying when people find the one and only picture of a person that they think looks Luthorish and post it. I get all excited and then every single pic I see after that is hideously NOT right for the role. And it has nothing to do with his hair. If he had NO hair in that pic, he'd still look completely wrong for Lex...

Might make a good Bruno Mannheim IMO

Does my opinion of whether her LOOKS right for the role have anything to do with his acting? No.

But FYI I have seen him, and do like his acting. Hence why I said he might be good in another role in the movie, like Bruno Mannheim if they use him.

Although for the record, he isn't THAT great. There are a lot of actors I would rather see in this movie.

Michael Shannon is a fantastic actor. And he'd play Lex well. However, I always felt like, baldness aside, Lex should be a handsome devil. Shannon doesn't really look the part, imo.
