The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread

It's a promotional image from The Walking Dead, of the process of decay a typical zombie goes through.

What else about that picture makes you not like his looks then?

His eyes for one thing.

And it's not like i'm judging him on that one picture, it's just one I chose that I thought showed the complete opposite to the image the original poster attached. It was to show that the first picture is not representative of his look on a whole.

But as I said, I looked him up. Based on google's stock of images, I don't think he looks right for Lex.

I really don't understand why this has been such a touchy subject... is he a favourite? Cause I hadn't heard anyone mention him before... Plenty of actors get suggested in this thread, and plenty of people express that they don't think they look right.

I personally HATE Zane's look for Lex, but some think he'd be perfect.

I didn't insult Shannon in any way. All I said was 'No thanks'. I think that's a very polite and respectful rejection myself.

I'm not an advocate of changing core characters' race, but if they chose to do so, the only non-Caucasian I could probably accept as Lex might be Lance Reddick.

He'd also make a great Brainiac, I think.

If could go for that, if he's legitimately the best actor for the part.

Well, I dont see how you came to that conclusion, but okay...

Puckenstein, there's definitely no shot he'd ever get Lex, but he is an EXCELLENT suggestion for Brainiac! Reddick's presence, gravitas, and voice on The Wire are all outstanding.

If they were going to change Lex Luthor into a black character, I think it would take a big name - like a Denzel Washington - to pull it off. But I don't see them doing that, I imagine Lex will remain white.

Agreed. I just think Reddick is a BAMF.

He is also good for Martian Manhunter. He has a great voice and presence for it.

he could pull off brainiac hes got a very robotic like voice

Michael Shannon

Very interesting choice, but I think Shannon is best when he's playing characters who are a bit more unhinged. Lex certainly has some borderline psycho tendencies, but he's darker side is very controlled. Shannon might be able to pull that off, but I'm not sure. I've only really seen him play loony characters.

Speaking of Michael Shannon, have any of you seen a short film he did about 10 years ago with Pat Healy and Henry Gibson called Mullitt? If you haven't, I HIGHLY recommend it. It will be the best 15 minutes of your life. :woot:

i dunno about Lex, he has always screamed Martian Manhunter to me but has Brainiac i think would pretty awesome.

How about the always excellent Jeffrey Wright for a black Lex?

I want a tall, athletic Luthor this time. Wright is a bit dumpy.

We need Lex Luthor to be the Corrupt Businessman who is untouchable because he has the law on his side because he owns Metropolis .

Lex should be the CEO of Lexcorp but I like him best as someone who excels in many areas, like science, physical fitness and politics. I don't want him to come across as a generic evil businessman, like John Byrne wrote him.

I agree IMO STAS captured Lex's character perfectly .
