He was great in the Fountain and The Prestige, I could see it, better than some TV actor.

He would have to do something remarkable in his tense scenes, otherwise I'd just see Wolverine. I dunno how much range Jackman has.

You should watch The Prestige and The Fountain. He was very diverse and AWESOME in those two movies. I especially liked him in The Prestige. He and Bale were amazing in that movie.

Yes, he was great in The Prestige. Jackman plays a man driven to commit evil deeds by obsession and jealousy - quite a fine Luthor audition. :woot:

When I suggested Jackman some number of pages back, I mentioned how Luthor-like his Prestige character was. The jealousy, obsession, and rage involved with his character definitely jump out as being Lex qualities, but I also like how his character was kind of sympathetic starting out. He wasn't just a bad guy who wants to be the best, he was a broken man that was slowly overcome by those villainous qualities. I kind of want this Lex to be similar to that, not a 2-dimensional criminal, but a human being who sees his life's work being slowly taken away from him by this guy in blue tights. I think Jackman would be able to pull that off, among the other things about Lex's character.

And if the rumored start date that came out recently is true, then that may free him up from shooting Wolverine 2. Still don't think it's a very likely option though, unfortunately. But another option I could see as a very interesting Lex is Guy Pearce. Really great actor, would love to see what he could bring to the role, if he accepted it.

I could get on board with the look... it's just the character i'm not sure he could pull off.

Don't get me wrong, i've liked a lot of his work. But i can't see him pulling off the calm self confidence of Lex for some reason... he always comes across 'troubled'. And while Lex has a lot of issues, to the public he doesn't come across that way at all.

Yes, that's the kinda names we need in the supporting cast. A Nolan-sized cast.
If course, they might steal focus.

aside form the fact that nolan is NOT casting this. synder is.

i still vote for phoneix or billy zane.

Besides his crazy hairy beard fiasco I am a big fan of Phoenix, I would be very excited if he was cast for Lex Luthor. Superman really deserves a knock out cast, especially if Superman is going to be a unknown.

I am all for those two, plus Daniel Craig - that was VERY inspired fan casting!

I don't care what most people think of Zane, I think he would do great if given the chance.

Phoenix has this calm craziness hands down - he was already Lex Luthor in ancient Rome in "Gladiator" .

I'd suggest Tom Hardy if he wasn't already cast in the new Batman film

some off the wall choices...adrien brody, crispin glover, anthony michael hall.

I know...he looks like the mad scientists lex, know what I mean.

I agree...weird, but very much the business savy Lex, a real sob.
I think it would be funny, and a nod to the fans, to show that this Lex hates investing in real estate lol.

Owen is awesome, but not handsome enough IMO. Also, Lex has to reek of being intelligent and sophisticated. Owen comes off more as a lone gunman.

Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Edward Norton...

I'm still liking Isaacs as Lex, but I think Hamm would be great as well.

Now that Jaquin Phoenix is officially an actor again and in need of an career adrenaline shot, it's time for my long time fanboy dream of Phoenix playing Luthor too come true.

Jon Hamm is Jor-El.

Is phoenix reliable enough to handle working on a franchise this big?
