I was just re-watching Season 1 this past week, and I remember thinking that in the scene where Charles Brandon (Henry Cavill) had to kneel and beg for Henry's (JRM) forgiveness. That was a pretty good exchange, though the arm wrestling aftewards never fails to crack me up

It doesn't have to be Gosling. I just hope Snyder casts someone in that mold, someone who's not a thug. Thug Lex is the absolute worst version of Lex there is. Lex's main weapon is supreme intellect. That's the way the role should be cast.

Not sure what you mean by Thug Lex. Are you referring to the Donner/Singer "Greatest Criminal Mind" Lex? If so, then yeah... I don't want to see that again. And I mean no disrespect to the Donner films... but I don't want a Lex that everyone KNOWS is a criminal. I think Lex is much more of a threat when the people think he's on their side and Superman is the only one who can see the truth.

When you said "Thug Lex" the first thing I thought of was that rumor (about 7 years ago or so) that WB was considering Vin Diesel to play Lex Luthor. The thought of how horrible that would have been still gives me nightmares.

i'd be fine with any of these guys as lex, although i'd like to see lex have just a buzz cut, not bald because bald for the most part looks strange, but a buzz cut looks like it is just part of the way he wants to look... looks more natural

Jeffrey Donovan has been cast as RFK in Clint Eastwood's biopic about J. Edgar Hoover. I don't know if it is a large role, but if you're a fan of his work, this could either be good, in the fact that his talent is recognized, or bad, in that he couldn't play Lex Luthor. People have mentioned him before & I like the thought of him as Lex.

I suggested him a while back too. Some people are hung up on landing a big name for the role, but I'm more concerned with a great actor. I think Donovan would make an awesome Lex.

Agreed completely. Like Jeffrey Dean Morgan for Perry White, it's not the usual look that is suggested, or that i'd go for. But because of the combination of roles i've seen him in, i think he'd bring an interesting edge.

Why didn't I think of this?!!! I doubt he'd do a film like Superman but he is now one of my choices for the role.

You need a guy that can do that slow burn. He has issues with Superman at first, but over time you just start to see that **** build under the surface.

I agree. I think Lex will have a big name actor play him, someone like Decaprio, DDL, Pitt, Craig, or Norton.

Yep, superstar or up-and-coming superstar, dashing/handsome but icy/sharp looks, possible character-actor, mid to late 30s, looks good bald, distinguised look, around 6 foot tall...

he plays Arnold Rothstein on Boardwalk Empire. i know a lot of people consider him the best actor on the series. he looks quite a bit like joaquin phoenix.

Paul Bettany! Why have I never thought of him before? (I know someone has) He's excellent. He is an amazing actor and could pull of Lex with his eyes closed. I know someone is going to bring up his height and true enough he's two inches taller but with movie magic that is totally not an issue. They could have Supes hovering over him or even just have him at a good enough distance or even sitted for their convo sceens. You guys get me. But point is he's the guy.
