The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread

That is an awesome manip.

Ethan Hawke is an interesting suggestion. Though I'd hope he eats something if he's going to play Lex. The guy looked worse than Bale in The Fighter in the last three movies I saw him in.

I've never seen him in anything, so I can't say much about that, and maybe it's because it's such an awesome manip... but this looks right.

I would want him to bulk up just a little and do something about those eyebrows though :hehe:

Bettany as Luthor I could get down on. It would seem like a Snyder choice too.

As a former Billy Zane supporter, (and I'd still love it if he were cast) I think I've shifted my alliegence to Michael Shannon. I think he'd be amazing as Lex. He can pull of charming or sinister in the right tone.

Just to throw a name out there (who has no shot in hell of being cast, but why not) how about Cole Hauser as Lex? He looks like the Birthright version of the character to me and can play a good SOB.

I like the idea of Walton Goggins as Brainiac... but I could see Bettany as Braniac more than Luthor. He's just got that weird no eyebrow look to him.

Walton Goggins?!?! That's a stroke of casting genius right there! He would be absolutely awesome as almost any villian really but damn that'd be great

Oohhh and Michael Shannon. Nice on their too. More notable tv actors need to be looked at for comic book roles. Imagine Bryan Cranston as Lex, or hell Timothy Olyphant

He's too big (although they are going for names) nor do I think he'd committ to a multi-picture deal, but Brad Pitt would be a most *****ing Luthor.

Owen's actually struck me more for Zod.

Brad Pitt cannot be in a single movie without sounding like he's reading from cue cards. He better not come anywhere near this movie.

I liked him in Fight Club and 12 Monkeys, but that's about it.

Pitt is great in weirder roles likes Basterds, True Romance, Snatch or Burn After Reading. He's sometimes a little stiff as a leading man, but he's been great in things like Jesse James and Babel as well. He's not my first choice for Lex (and a pretty unlikely one), but I wouldn't mind it.

I forgot Burn After Reading. Pitt was really funny in that movie.

After Isaacs, I like Norton. Pitt would be great as well.

That's the only movie I've seen him in where I didn't come away thinking, "Brad Pitt was horrendous as usual." He was decent in that one, I agree, but c'mon, there are 50 better choices out there.

Clive Owen as Zod????? HELL YEA! Now that would be EPIC! Owen could pull off that cold, looking-down-his-nose attitude like Terrance Stamp but taken to a whole new level

We could cast both Brainiac and Luthor straight from Justified. :awesome:

I really like the thought of Gerard Butler as Zod though... I can so easily imagine him bellowing in Cavill's face to kneel before him.

Billy Zane is a interesting choice for Luthor, but to tell you the truth, I think he would be a great Jor El. He kind of has that Brando thing going for him too.

I like the Bettany bald pics for Luthor.

While not completely abondoning Luthors businessman tycoon persona, Id kinda like to see a bit of a return to the mad scientist type of villian for Luthor. The two can be combined for a great version of Lex.
