I don't think Jennifer Biel is interested in another comic book movie.

An unexpected but great choice! I agree that her naturally gentle and sweet demeanor will be the perfect contrast to the Hulk's violence and rage. She and Norton should be great together. This is shaping up nicely!

As for Biel's part, I'm thinking St. Lawrence as a replacement for Thunderbolt Ross's number 2(since Talbot is now dead...something I hated from the 1st movie). She could also be Emil's wife though.

lets see, Bale for Norton (thats a draw IMO) and Holmes for Tyler (i like em both, so draw again.) .Marvel are keeping up with BB IMO.

Im starting to worry about this movie.this is a big name cast,mabey the biggest for a superhero flick and witohut a great story its going to be reviewed as a mistake for the actors which isnt a good thing at all.Shes good and can do it but the story has to be great.

Do the names Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Glenn Ford, Terrance Stamp.....ring a bell?

TIH is beating BB so far IMO, as Tyler is a better actress than Holmes IMO. Not sure it is keeping up with TDK though.

We have to remember that it is important to get a co-star taht has chemistry with the lead. Some of us may like Connelly better as an actress but there could in some way have good on screen chemistry with Norton that will come off well. Casting directors look for that. We will haev to wait and see. I have to admit, she isn't a bad choice, and she does kinda resemble Connelly, in a less sensitive way.

True, TIH is just getting started, so it needs a chance. It will be extremely difficult to match BB and IM though, IMO.

I find her hot, what worries me is she´s no Jen Connelly in terms of acting.

Well, agree to disagree then. But, just watch the scene were Hulk changes back to Banner after his rampage in San Fran, and tell me you dont feel sorry for her then.

The only people I feel sorry for are the hardcore Hulk fans who have to put up w/ such a boring and soulless actress in the role of Betty Ross.

Also that scene is dumb anyway, seeing Betty would not have made him calm down. If anything it would have made Hulk madder.

why the hell would Betty piss off Hulk?... Hulk doesnt see Betty, he sees his mother, a kid like Bruce freaks out, he sees his mother and calms down.

I don't really understand the "she doesn't look like a scientist as much as Jennifer Connelly" argument.

Most audiences didn't even realize/care Betty was a scientist in Ang Lee's Hulk. It wasn't even much of a factor in the plot.

Liv Tyler was believable as psychiatrist in Reign Over Me, so people can probably buy that she's a scientific researcher. Just a cute scientific researcher.

It's not like it's Tara Reid playing a scientist.

Solid casting. Glad to see this movie coming together, I enjoyed Hulk although felt it wasn't quite all there. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I agree. Bana and Connelly were a great pair, but Norton and Tyler... who knows?

In general, Tyler doesn't have me jumping up and down, and I think it's because I get this feeling that she just happened to be one of the few available and was the best among the rest of those who were available - not that she was the very most qualified actress for the position among a large field of candidates. Otherwise, wouldn't we all be saying she's a perfect fit, hands down, and making less comparisons with Connelly? Would be really interested to know how many others auditioned.

On a side note, with Norton and now Tyler, I think I've been stupefied twice in as many times. Both selections completely caught me off-guard and I'm now rethinking what I know about the characters. I like Norton a lot, but he's a completely different animal from Bana, you know? And outside of their appearances in fairytale-like movies, Tyler and Connelly really don't seem to have much in common, either. Is it possible that these two positions - Bruce Banner and Betty Ross - just happen to be two of the most complex characters to cast for?

Also, everyone seems to be in agreement that the casting has been excellent thus far, but forgive me, are there any critics of you out there? Other than a few stray comments about Biel, who's guilty by association anyway, no one seems to have any particularly insightful comments about other actors who might've better filled Tyler's position. In fact, in four pages on this thread, I think I've seen one other name thrown out for consideration - Lena Headey - and there was no further elaboration whatsoever. I dunno... I guess I'm wondering if all of the positive comments expressed about the casting are knee-jerk reactions or part of some conspiracy to be positive, no matter who's casted.

As for Tyler, I don't have many great ideas myself - I'm working on post #4 as it is - but Kate Beckinsale has crossed my mind as a possibility. She, at least, exudes "scientist" more than Tyler. Connelly was great as a scientist but, as some of you have said, was a bit lacking on the compassion side of things - it wasn't very believable. I think Beckinsale would've been ideally suited for this role. Any thoughts?

Liv Lyler did it twice. Once in Armageddon and once in LOTR when she leaves Aragorn.

IMO... Norton is a better actor than Bale, and Tyler is WAY better than Katie Holmes... let see other cast members... hope in a real BIG name to play Gen. Ross

and Jennifer Connelly was boring in Hulk. She didn't evoke any emotional response from the audience. That defeats the entire purpose of including Betty Ross in the story.
