I agree... just because Olivia is a sex symbol right now doesn't make her Megan Fox. Olivia is has genuine acting talent.

Let's not go nuts. She's may not be Megan Fox, but acting-wise she's nothing special.

no one said she was winning an oscar or anything so calm down there

just that she has talent

If the film is origin based, even with Lana it doesn't mean time would be spent in Smallville. Hint: Clark travels the world. He learns other languages and cultures quickly, he also develops his powers and decision making abilities, however he still come back to Lana to share what is going on.

bumping old comment as I think it is relevant now.

Lois having a super reduced role in this if anything makes me smile.

I knew they were going to play up the action aspects of Superman here finally. I expect any love/romance subplot to be very small and insignificant, like Bruce/Rachel in TDK.

Smart move.

Yeah I get your point

They need to build on the romance throughout the series of films not rush it like the Spider-man films did.

I love the Donner movie but the romance dominated that film and it worked its time for something new.

Interesting. I like Biel. She's not my first choice but I would be happy with her in the role. She played a pretty good hardass in The A-Team.

I would be on board with her or Olivia. Interesting that Biel was also at a medical center yesterday, cleared for taking a lots of bumps and bruises on set perhaps? Probably not, but hey its fun to speculate.

If they look back to casting choices like they did for Superman (Cavill) I wonder if Lilly and Russell get back in the fold. I think bringing on Lilly from such a successful show (and the fact she has won the role of Lois before) could be a good springboard for her coming on. It just depends if she would want to do it.

I think the fan excitement for her getting cast would be extreme. I also think the buzz would be pretty big surrounding her with Cavill.

Yeah I mentioned Russell coming back in one of my articles, not to mention that Bomer was back in the mix.

Really, she was? Well, hope she's okay.

Okay... turned my computer on later than usual.

Can't BELIEVE there would be no Lois Lane OR LESS Lois than usual.

You CAN'T have Superman without Lois Lane. Alot of superheroes out there don't have definitive love interests. Even Spider-Man, one of the most popular superheroes, has MULTIPLE love interests.

Superman is always stuck with Lois Lane. Not because he HAS to, but because their relationship always works.

Not having Lois, would mean no Daily Planet and tbh I don't want to watch a whole film (or a third of the film) in Africa or Egypt or whatever.

No Lois Lane = I'm not seeing this film.

(And I'm a massive Superman fan)

My advice is just to wait this rumor out because it doesn't seem to be based on anything aside from online speculation and the rumors that there are blonde actresses auditioning for the role opposite Superman. No one has confirmed Lois isn't going to be in the film ,nor has there been confirmation that the female lead isn't Lois .

They aren't considering a series of movies. This film is currently a standalone, because of the lawsuit.

That's why they're trying to make it amazing and put everything into it.

Lois could very well be in this film. She just isn't the female lead.

And the romance is likely a small side plot. Ever since the 90s, in some unfortunate attempt to draw women towards Superman, DC (in comics and live action) played up the Lois/Clark stuff as the main central thread of Superman.... IMO it ruined the character.

I knew the Nolan script would get back to basics and turn Superman from a Rom-Com into an Action epic.

I personally feel there'l be things they have in this movie that can lead to a sequel. Sometimes directors/writers have an idea for a trilogy but still treat each film as a standalone i.e. Nolan with his Batman movies.

if this was supposed to be the best sueprman movie without sequels in midn then there would not be news about a female lead that is not Lois Lane.

you go oldschool summer action movie where SUperman and Lois Lane are the leads.

Exactly. Infact WB's made Batman begins to restart the Batman Franchise but had it bombed it wouldn't have gotten a sequel the same goes with the new Superman, if it makes money they'l do a sequel.

Can you explain a little bit regarding this? I just thought they would lose the rights if they don't make a movie? So they'll lose them anyway even though they are making it?

Well. Suddenly, this thread feels a lot less.....important :csad:

I don't know how true this is, but apparently the other female lead is for Luthor's henchwoman, Mercy Graves. That would indicate Luthor does indeed have a large role and Lois will indeed be in it as expected.

I just posted that in the Mystery woman thread :cmad:

Lol its CBM though so take it with a pinch of salt but I hope its true

I just realized that I miss balehead. Because she is the barometer that could have determined whether this "non Lois Lane news" had any validity. If she popped in here and swore that there would be no Lois in the movie whatsoever, we know that Lois WOULD in fact, be in the movie, and be the female lead. And vice versa.

Her track record is flawless:

She was adamant that there was no way in hell Selina Kyle/Catwoman would appear in The Dark Knight Rises.

She was certain that Henry Cavill would never play Superman.

She's the Bizarro Nostradamus!
