Gemma Arterton is an interesting suggestion and one that I wouldn't be averse to. I've never seen her in a movie where she hasn't had a foreign accent though, can she do an American one?

Would really prefer to see an American actress in the role though, cuz it does seem like the Brits have been taking over so many American characters lately....

I like Rebecca Hall as actress, but I should point out the elephant in the room - DAT NECK.

Still, I wouldn't complain if she got the role as Lois.

Rebecca would make a great Lois. She's definitely one of the best actresses mentioned here. And her neck is fine.

i've agreed with you on a bunch of things, but this one i don't. Lois Lane doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous and I think Rebecca is plenty attractive. she's not lustfully attractive female, but i find her very pretty...and she's definitely one of the more capable actresses that have been mentioned on this thread as far as acting skills are concerned.

Cavill knew he was chosen at the same day they release the news, january 31st. How can the actress in the short list had tested before february 1st?

They'll probably start casting now.

And a regular movie spend 3 months shooting, so MEW can be free for Superman in June. This is the same "problem" of Wilde.

Well I think Cavill first auditioned in October for Superman. He then got his screen-test in January.

They probably have a short-list and are screen-testing now, if they haven't already.

It has to do with lighting. Filmmakers mostly prefer people with nice angles to their face cause it looks good on film as oppose to people with softer edges like MEW. Take a look at Wilde in Tron as an example of how they lit her to soften up her edges. Or this video.

I'm starting to believe more and more that Snyder is going to want Wilde as his Lois and I wouldn't have any problem with it.

Also, it's important to remember that depending on how big her part is, the actress playing Lois doesn't necessarily need to be ready by June. Cavill's schedule, obviously, needs to be ready, but actors in other roles might not be needed until later on. It just depends on which scenes they film first.
